    Newcastle are also thought to have renewed contact with Paris-Saint Germain over summer target Mevlüt Erdinç, suggesting a shift in policy from the stance taken late last month that they would only look to sign a centre-back.

    Pardew admitted the injury which ruled Sammy Ameobi out for the rest of the season may have changed his January policy.


    “Even now with the window open everyone will react to injuries,” he said. “It can change your outlook a little bit.

    “Whether that has changed my opinion on a striker or a forward-thinking player, maybe.”

    Ameobi is a pacy attacker who has been used wide in his brief first-team career. His injury has left Newcastle light on wingers.

    Have I missed something? We're after Erdinc ( costing zillions) because Sammy ( £80pw/ impact super sub/riot starter) is injured?

    Proper fan, is Sammy. Realises we're not going to be signing the striker that the fans crave, and so throws himself needlessly into a horror tackle from some no-name from Wigan. Took one for the team to get us our new striker. Hail Prince Sammy.

    That sounds odd. We don't even use Sammy as a striker, plus we wouldn't sign someone for a few million quid to replace a teenager who occasionaly gets on the bench.

    Pards is good at the Kansas City shuffle lark. First we were looking for a CB so he could get a striker cheaper, now we're looking for a striker so he can get a CB cheaper. Plus we're still looking at Morrison.
