Back in the 80's my mum used to make prawn cocktail starters for Sunday lunch when we had family round. She'd mix salad cream and tomato ketchup together for the sauce and think she was dead posh
I do like a crisp sarnie, but I have to say my favourite ever sarnie was one I used to get from a place called City Subs in Brooklyn. Nobody does a better sandwich than New Yorkers. I used to get this Pastrami sub, with loads of slaw, gherkins, red onion and provolone cheese. Was the sort of sarnie you'd want to take to a quiet place and have some private time with
prawn cocktail starters Used to work in a restaurant when I was 16. Basically the late 80's. Blokes would come win with a bird and ask for a prawn cocktail starter Basically prawns with ketchup and salad cream (mix) on a bed of lettuce, served in an ice cream bowl (with a stem) and a..... A tooth pick
I love a prawn cocktail but I suppose as a United fan it's in my DNA. None of that salad cream **** though. Mayo Ketchup Worcestercerercershire Sauce Garlic Cayenne pepper
Happened to pass a Greggs this morning and couldn't help but stop and have a bacon and sausage baguette. Was bloody lovely. I haven't done this in ages but used to regularly make a roast seasoned chicken breast with crispy bacon, grated cheddar and mayo (salad cream is the devils jizz) on a hot ciabatta. Very nice, a proper day time meal.
Whatever happened to that as a starter? Haven't seen it anywhere for years Have to say I'm not a fan of salad cream. Prefer a decent mayonnaise
