http://www.skysports.com/football/n...orla-to-miss-three-months-after-ankle-surgery Perfect Just the news we were all waiting to hear... Our worst fears have come true. I guess the question now is, what do we do? Do we try and play someone in his position to make this system work, do we recall Wilshere (if we are allowed to) or do we try a different system altogether that tries to suit the strengths of the players that we have?
I think we need to use Xhaka more. He wont be our Carzola but he offers something our other CM cannot. Penetration. This wont be popular, but combing Xhaka with Ramsey could work offensively (not so much defensively I guess). But at least Ramsey can beat a man and is quite good at it (lately he has been ****, I know). Wilshere is a no go, I believe.

Eugh... it's no exaggeration to say he's the team's heart beat. We have nobody who's close to him in terms of dictating play or ball retention. Personally I'd go with Elneny and Xhaka as a pairing as I've found both Aaron and Coquelin frustrating this season. At least with Xhaka you'll get the occasional forward pass.
I think Coquelin has been really good. I would go with Xhaka and Coq or Xhaka and Ramsey.....or be real controversial.....Xhaka and the Ox?
I agree. No league challenge without Cazorla. The guy is simply top class. Ramsey would be our best option to fill the gap but he's been totally useless lately.
Completely agree, that is our title aspiration over for the season. No coincidence we have not really played well since his absence. I wonder if he actually played in our game v Chelsea? I still wonder, why the medical team at Arsenal never seem to get their diagnosis right. He will be out for a couple of weeks, now we are told he will be out for 3mths. With their record, he will be out till September 2017.
We do have a fine squad but one player we desperately didn't want out is Carzola. He makes our team tick so well, he is the grease in our gears. The biggest issue we have is not having anyone that can do the Cazorla role.
Seems like he does get injured an awful lot though. He will be back when we are fighting for the run in.............................Yup, for the annual 4th place trophy.
We do need a quality replacement to Cazorla who can do what he does but can those two do a similar role? I was thinking of an Isco type, someone who can keep the ball really well and make the team tick. Actually Isco is similar to those too as well.
Isco is a good shout. He's been linked with a move away from Real for some time now too. Kroos would be expensive and James is maybe better further forward, although I think they'd both work well alongside Xhaka/Coquelin. Maybe it's a chance for Aaron Ramsey to shine ....
He won't get a better chance to be honest. His performance for the next few months will be the difference between us challenging for the title and scraping 4th. So far Ramsey hasn't looked convincing. He REALLY needs to up his game. This is how important the Cazorla role is to our team.
Why is your squad always so decimated by injuries. Debucy out for another 6 weeks now too. Injured for like 10 months, plays for 15 minutes, then goes off injured for another 6 weeks. I would like to be paid 70k per week to be sat on my arse injured all the time !!
Sorry you guys but Ramsay is deffo not the answer for you guys. Ramsay is everything Cazorla is not. Cazorla can play the long pass, the short pass, keeps a good shape in the 2, dictates play and most importantly retains possession and makes the right decision as well playing sick throughballs. Ramsay, has an abundance of energy, can OCCASIONALLY play the long ball, fancies his flicks and tricks, runs into the box for goals so ill disciplined and losses possession a lot. You'll be better of going Xhaka and Elneny/Coq. As for Isco as a replacement, he can dribble and pass but Cazorla is pretty underrated defensively. He takes up good positions. Isco has NO experience of that
