I was told Golden Apollo for the Ayr Gold Cup at 20/1 ante post and got my money back when the race was abandoned. When it ran last time we were told not to do it because the ground was too soft but it ran a creditable third in a valuable race at Ripon. They are expecting a big run at York in the Coral Sprint at 3:15; however, I note that it is drawn 19 of 20 where high draws used to be advantageous. I also note that in the same race is Stake Acclaim, drawn 1 on the other side of the track, so hopefully our Dean Ivory connection knows if they fancy the horse that was caught on the line in the substitute Ayr Gold Cup at Haydock. As I am going to HQ, it will be a case of put a bet on early and watch in the course betting shop! Hope Coeur de Lion goes well for anyone that gets involved but it is too short for me in a seventeen runner handicap. Hayley Turner will be saying it is a Gold Cup horse in the making if it wins by more than a length.
SAM SPINNER now into 11/1 from 20s for the Silver Trophy. Hot enough race but assuming the logical progression over the summer am hoping he'll be bang there at the finish. Was banging the drum for MALAYA on the Cheltenham ante-post thread and I see her as a top candidate for the Triumph Hurdle. Before then she is out on Sunday (1:40 Chepstow) up against another one of the favourites in the Triumph market, Gumball. Forecasted odds Gumball 4/5, Malaya 5/2. As one who has been sad enough to study a lot of the French form over the past few weeks (mainly with a view to assessing which of the newcomers are likely to be decent Cheltenham prospects) I can't believe Malaya isn't favourite. Simply, her form across the channel is standout, and far surpasses that of Gumball to my eye. Anything around 2/1 on the day and i'll be piling in.
Malaya (means prostitute in swahili) , as one forum regular would say what a loveley name for a filly.
I took the 7/4 on Shababy earlier in the week! Altho not raced on ground this good still looks the one to beat!
Scoop 6/Lucky 63: 1:50 Newmarket - Graffiti Master 7/1 2:05 York - Anythingtoday 5/1 2:25 Newmarket - Zabriskie 8/1 2:40 York - Shabaaby 10/11 3:15 York - Golden Apollo 12/1 3:40 Newmarket - John Constable 8/1 The two others i liked in the Cesarewitch were Time To Study 11/1 and Arthur McBride 50/1 but just sticking with my Scoop 6/Lucky 63 selections so hopefully these two do nothing.
Powers only ride today . Followed you in . Good luck. Noticed power still keeps the ride on the irish trained horses owned by potts.happy with that .
Duke Street friendless in the betting @40s for the Ces but definitely worth an ew punt. Swamp Fox @ 18s ew from the Irish contingent too. Eartha Kitt, New 4.50 must be due to win soon having run well in defeat lto. At York Mr Lupton and Always Resolute. Then there is the jumps in Wales. Souriyan and Minella Celebration. Some multiple bets amongst those non Ces runners. Good luck all.
In the Ces Lagostovegas 14/1 looks thrown in here and Willie will have her spot on for this.I've also backed Who Dares Wins 10/1 following recent c&d and King won this race two years ago with Grumeti.
Two for me the ces get back to Paris and first Mohican and I've had a good bet on us navy flag, the price is to good. The jolly should win but stoute hasn't got a good record in the race and obriens horse ticks all the boxes for me
BLUE HUSSAR - YORK 5pm - 11/1 Coeur De Lion beat Barizan 4 lengths over 2 miles at Nottingham back in May. Zenafire beat Barizan 16 lengths over 1 mile 6 at Haydock in June. Blue Hussar beat Zenafire 19 lengths over 2 miles at York last month. As always with collateral form it's dangerous to just read it across like that, but surely Blue Hussar would have a good few lengths in hand over Coeur De Lion however you choose to read it. At odds of 11/1 I make Blue Hussar a great each way bet.
Morning All - a rare posting visit from me. Ghaiyyath is friendless in the market in the Autumn Stakes. Had intended to include it in my portfolio of investments for the day, but now umming and ahhing over whether to take advantage of the bigger than expected price or heed the market vibes. All the money seems to be for Purser. Views welcome on this. In the Ces I currently have an e/w interest in Shrewd, Digeanta, Euchen Glen and Swamp Fox. A further selection may yet be forthcoming.
I love a race run over distance, on bad ground. Something to sort the men from the boys. The Hexam three miler 16:00 fits the bill, but it's full of ****. One of the problems is that a heap of them have not run in six months. I like a bit of recent race form going into a race. It's really tricky, but maybe the bottom weight might have a slim each way shout at 14-1. I've chosen one that suits the nature of the selection. Hexam. 16:00 More Madness.
Haven't used my Betfair Sportsbook account for ages due to ridiculous bet restrictions, but as they are offering 7 Places in the Ces I thought I'd place 5 Euros E/W on Lagostovegas @ 12/1, but the bet was restricted to 0.94 Cent E/W @ 12/1. So I thought Fe*k it I'll bite the bullet and place the remaining 4.06 Euros E/W @ S.P. but this bet was also restricted to 1.40 E/W @ S.P. 30 runner competitive handicap & you can't get a fiver each way on a 12/1 shot, what is the world coming to? Call themselves Bookmakers End of rant Good Luck
2 bets for me today in the Ces: Who Dares Wins 11/1 each way 6 places First Mohican 40/1 each way 6 places. Hoping either don't finish 7th or 8th! Who Dares Wins for obvious reasons...improving and won the trial race. First Mohican ran a great race last year to finish 2nd and was slow out the gates ..is on the same rating and has been rested since Ascot. King stable in good form too..
