EEC grants paid the up front money I was told. The balance which we were due to pay was wiped when Ballast Wilshier folded. Tolent site manager worked on building of SOL for BW. Have no reason to think he is/was lying
From what I can remember, I believe the EEC grants covered the costs involved in the land reclamation following the closure of the pit, to leave it in a position ready for building to begin. SAFC were then sold the land for a nominal £1 fee. Then again, I could be wrong, just what I vaguely remember from the time.
Seems unlikely that the Receiver would let a big debtor get away with non-payment at the expense of the creditors. Usually a builder going bust during a big construction job is bad news for the customer
Was a general point rather than specific to Bob. Competence not connection is the main requirement in club officials( and players ) although it's great to have both
I now know how Smug/Reiver feels lol. I was told by someone involved in the building of SOL that it cost the club nowt because of Ballast Wilshier going bust. He was a site manager of many years in the construction industry andd FWIW I believe him and am only repeating what I was told by him. Don't shoot the messenger.
A new law will come out that only allows groups of cyclists to be in a group of one with a 100 mts between each one otherwise juggernauts are allowed to flatten them
On RTG I'm now being blamed for the takeover falling through ... ... and being credited for reporting 3 months back that an ex-England manager was advising FPP. The point being, don't ever post on the internet any info you hear.
But the possibility is that Donald overpaid, as I believe a poster on here mentioned about a month ago. Also, by Donald's own words, nobody else was willing to offer any money to Short for the club at the time. Why did he offer '£40m'? Because the structure of the deal allowed him to create paper debt where he likely had very little intention of paying it back, and his own money would never be used to purchase the club unless... well in the worst case scenario, a new owner might acquire the club without his consent (default) and leave him on the hook for what he owes as that debt from Madrox can be reassigned to SJD leisure. They do if they want us. If not... they won't have any vested interest beyond getting their loan cash back. I think we as fans need to brace for this taking a long time. The desperation for a quick fix or simple answer is going to lead to massive frustration if it is protracted.
What do you think is a fair price for a club with a squad valued at £13m and properties that cost over £37m to build many years ago?
I won't hear any more from Fuhrman I'm afraid. I was with his close friend, discussing a work project, but nothing came of it and I'm no longer in touch The other info came from a wealthy friend who literally stumbled into contact with FPP but doesn't really know them. I have a Sunderland friend who is close to Methven but fell out, to a degree, when he starting criticising the supporters. What I do have is a small number of ITK people who I came into contact with while I was ITK myself. They prefer not to post, due to the huge amount of flak it attracts, but use me to 'leak' certain info. I allow that providing I believe the info is genuine and not damaging to the club That's as clear as I can be mate
