A third of the PL season gone, and Spurs are currently averaging two pts per game (to maintain that rate would normally be enough to finish top 4) .
On the "like for like" , there are 9 pts up for grabs this month. I considered +10 pts at the halfway mark to be a good state of affairs, and prior to the injury plague caused by vermin FC, I was confident this was possible. At the moment, with things as they are, this month will be brutal and I would take still being on +6 pts at the halfway point as a huge mental victory.
PL (like for like with 2022-23 after 14 games) : Pts = +7, GF = 0, GA = -5, clean sheets = +2, W = +2, D = 1, L= -3.
PL (like for like with 2022-23 after 15 games) : Pts = +4, GF = -1, GA = -3, clean sheets = +1, W = +1, D = +1, L= -2.
PL (like for like with 2022-23 after 16 games) : Pts = +7, GF = +2, GA = -4, clean sheets = +1, W = +2, D = +1, L= -3.
PL (like for like with 2022-23 after 18 games) : Pts = +7, GF = +2, GA = -3, clean sheets = 0, W = +2, D = +1, L= -3.
PL (like for like with 2022-23 after 19 games) : Pts = +4, GF = +3, GA = +1, clean sheets = -1, W = +1, D = +1, L= -2.
So, the state of play at the halfway point : Pts = +4, GF = +5, GA = +1, I am predicting that PL 4th place this season will require at least 76 pts. Adding to this that one strong KPI for finishing PL top 4 is GD >= 30, then Spurs currently are off-target. To meet the above, Spurs will need to take 40 pts To give context to this, that is equivalent to playing as well as the last half of last season (which was not good) , and then winning 4 more games (28 + 12 = 40) . In terms of the "like for like" there are 29 pts up for grabs. Therefore quite a bit of leeway in how those pts are acquired. With the general tone of football Spurs have played to date + no UEFA KO stage distractions, I am confident the above can be achieved.
PL (like for like with 2022-23 after 20 games) : Pts = +7, GF = +4, GA = -1, clean sheets = -1, W = +2, D = +1, L= -3.
There are 6 pts up for grabs this month on the PL "like for like" . And 1-2 rounds of the FA cup (with at least one PL opponent) .
PL (like for like with 2022-23 after 21 games) : Pts = +8, GF = +6, GA = -1, clean sheets = -1, W = +2, D = +2, L= -4.
This is a bit counterintuitive....we theoretically have a much better defence and a worse attack compared to last season.
The best defensive unit has not been together for a fair part of the season, while the attacking counterpart has not suffered as much on that part. So not much surprise the GF/GA is as it is.
PL (like for like with 2022-23 after 22 games) : Pts = +11, GF = +8, GA = -2, clean sheets = -1, W = +3, D = +2, L= -5. This may be the first time since the final quarter of the 2016-17 season that Spurs have been at least +10 pts on the season compass.
