Im not saying that mate, I've heard absolutely nothing since my last 'don't panic' message a week ago. That was from someone with a personal financial interest in the American buy out going forward.

Of course he's highly biased but still seems confident that things can progress. I'm just backing off until the latest firestorm dies down.

I was told about another party doing due diligence, a week ago, but that doesn't automatically mean the Americans have gone.

Nor does it mean the new people have the means or intention to go ahead with any investment or whatever

It's very easy for assumptions to be construed as fact and for posts to be misinterpreted, deliberately or otherwise ...

... as I've found out.

Might be wrong but I always thought there was normally exclusivity whilst a potential takeover is ongoing? Surprised they'd be allowed to let another group do DD if the Americans were still at the table

Ive been away in France and thankfully had an entire four days of hearing nothing about our failed takeover, potential manager or even Brexit.... what have I missed or has it been another four days of misery?

I know it can't be taken as certified information, but Platek's Instagram account is still following the Sunderland one. And it appears it is legitimate as it sill has Fuhrman following it.
Perhaps we should settle down and wait for a little bit more bonafide information before we start believing it's off and if it does come that, then we can start working out why.

I think that the seller can agree to a period of exclusivity if the buyer requests but it's not always the case / granted
There's usually some sort of inducement for a period of exclusivity
I might however be talking bollocks

No you're absolutely right, from experience as the seller. It's mutually beneficial for both parties once it reaches the stage where the headline terms are broadly agreed.

For example, we had three interested parties, but one that was preferable to the others. Once we reached DD it was a matter of acting in good faith to act with exclusivity and defer any other potential interest until the primary investor is resolved.

So if he's negotiating with others, the MSD deal could well be at best stalled to the point that he no longer wishes to give them the impression that they're his only option. Doesn't really bode well for where the progress is.

Maybe the Americans are playing the long game knowing they’ll be able to buy the club for pennies on the pound if we stay down?

I completely fabricated this before it ends up in The Sun.

And ‘death warrant’ is a widely used expression, folk use it when a manager is about to get fired etc, there was no suggestion the lad meant someone was gonna cap Stu. If that was ever gonna happen Moyes wouldn’t be walking the streets <laugh>

Are things really any different since the start of the season?
Imo we've still a very good chance of getting promoted.
Investment maybe, maybe not, who knows? Certainly nobody apart from SD and the board. Its clouding everyones judgement. I'm limiting my time on here as it's affecting my sanity. For me it's all about what happens on the pitch, a few victories on the bounce and we'll all be smiling again. What will be will be, we can't do anything about the rest.

I don’t doubt your sincerity mate, but I would draw little from that fact. I suspect remembering to ask his PA to unfollow SAFC on Instagram would not be a high priority were the takeover have fallen through.

I'd certainly not read much into that- he's hardly going to go "Right...deals off.. must log into Insta and unfollow SAFC the dicks"

This is true. He’s been mostly professional and respectful enough about it to be fair though his Maja for money mistake was a sign for me. I never doubted his intentions. There is money in football and where there is money there are ****e hawks.
Animal experts would tell you hyenas and crocodiles are forever smiling
