Mainly because whilst I am not keen on that song, I have yet to find a version that outdoes the Wham version, and ideally I wanted to post versions that I already have in my cd/vinyl collection, although there were about 8 that I discovered during my research when choosing the set list that were new to me. For every known song I posted, I probably listened to at minimum 5 other versions, just in case there was something out that that was different. Of course the downfall of this plan, is doing that research on Youtube and Spotify, because you end up getting recommendations for bands and songs that I've never heard of, and of course they need to be listened to as well. Thus what you tell your family is just going to be 10 minutes on the pc whilst I post my daily song on the Leeds forum, ends up being a three hour session, of listening to some very bizarre, some frankly shocking songs with the occasional joy of discovering someone like Holy Moly and the Crackers. Of course most of the versions I started to listen to sounded just like what you would hear whilst out shopping at this time of year, thus all those versions had to be rejected, as I just wanted this to be something different to what you would expect to hear. And I am sure my internet provider would have fun looking through my search history upon seeing the following O Little Town of Bethlehem punk version O Little Town of Bethlehem thrash metal O Little Town of Bethlehem Disco version O Little Town of Bethlehem rockabilly etc etc Anyways I can now start planning for next year and just for you Eric, I will try and find a version of Last Christmas that appeals to my musical tastes
Ignore eric, he's just a whinging ozzie, Here is a version of little town of Bethlehem that most of us can appreciate.
Only issue with the festive songs was that it failed to pause to remember the death of the greatest songwriter and musician of modern times on the 8th Dec
Do you mean Robbie Shakespeare (of Sly and Robbie fame), Ralph Tavares (of disco group Tavares) or Barry Harris (legendary jazz pianist). With so many legends passing away on the same day, it would be difficult to pay tribute with the posting of one Christmas song
