I will jinx this straight away by saying this is a game we should win comfortably. A win will lift us to within 4 points of the top of the league and given that Sheffield United haven't won a single game all season (D1 L11), it seems a comfortable task - despite which the bookies are offering good odds, so fill your boots.

It looks likely that Cavani will be banned for 3 matches from 4th January for his social media post - so Ole better use him well ahead of then to make sure our remaining strikers are rested and ready for the duration of the ban. Perhaps we might see Ighalo get a game or two - tonight might be a good match to get him up to match fitness.

Win our games in hand, we go second.

Those games in hand are tonight, obviously, and Burnley at home.

Yes, I would expect us to win those games. It seems weird to think anything else at all, why would we?

    But, not challengers, no sir.

Team news - looks like we're at full strength.

Henderson, Wan-Bissaka, Lindelof, Maguire, Telles, Matic, Pogba, Fernandes, Greenwood, Martial, Rashford.

Subs: De Gea, Mata, Fred, James, Shaw, Van de Beek, McTominay.

Right, considering the possibilities of the position we are in, and considering also how utterly ****ing ****e tonight's opposition is, shall we make a deal?

Shall we all agree that, if we do not win, then it's (even more) quite ****ing obvious that our manager and coaching team are out of their depth and not up to the task?

    That a deal?

I don't expect, or want, this to happen, but if does can we stop making excuses?

    Cheers.

I don't agree that this match should be a walkover.
The opposition will be fighting like demons so a win cannot be guaranteed. I think we want SU to score first so that we can wake up.

Not being funny, but they haven't won a game all season, home or away. Given our away form , if we don't stroll through this game we're completely ****ed.

And there you go - 'safe hands' Henderson gifts his old loan side an own goal. hopefully we will go and get nine now to help our goal difference.

    <laugh>

Fighting like demons? Like they have in achieving their one point all this season?

But there you go, excuses in right away.

Sheffield United just had a player off injured for three minutes or so.

We didn't cross their half way line.

This isn't the coaching though, no sir.

We don't do stroll or easy. We have to make life difficult or else we can't play.

Who wants an FA cup or a league title when you can have the most coveted record of 6 consecutive away wins when conceding first? I said we need the opposition to score first or else we drift off to sleep and are ****ed.

Well well well... with the players we have against the team on 1 point, I expected us to win and we won. Go figure.

People should stop being so negative <whistle>

And that was despite the best efforts of Ole to fck it up with those crazy subs at the end :bandit:

Handed the initiative straight to Sheffield United.

I like that. When we lose Ole is a crock of ****.When we win he does his utmost to **** it up

If SU beat us we surely have to hang out heads in shame as they are rank bottom. If we beat them by 1 goal we should hang our heads in shame too as they are a rank team.

I am just waiting for Henderson 's howler to be put on Ole.

Oh trust me he doesn't intend it, but often it's a result of his poor judgement. I love Mata to bits but bringing him on for Greenwood was a bit stupid.

The three subs in a short space of time just unsettled the whole team.

It's 3 points and that'll do. I'm less confident about the next game against Leeds.

One thing we can all agree on is that it's our defence that's letting us down. Fix that defence and we are as good as anyone.

Firstly our defence either lacks confidence or the CB's in particular are not good enough individually.

Secondly, if we're going to play the ball out from the back, we really need to stop passing it around the back and actually play the ball out.

The thing is, even a team like Sheffield United at the bottom of the league KNOWS this and came out with that in mind. I dare say all teams come out with that mentality against us.

I still can't get my head around playing the ball out from the back. Long throws, yes, I get that. The keeper making opportunistic long releases - I get it, but the idea of playing ourselves into trouble 20ft from our own goal is madness - it just invites problems, and if you're going to do that, why not have the keeper turf the ball 60 yds up the pitch and sort out the 50/50 balls there rather than 18 yds from your own goal. For me its one of the most perplexing developments in the game in recent years. It invites problems without there being any up-side.
