Bragging rights up for grabs as to who the best team in Yorkshire are? The Blades are suffering their biggest slump under Chris Wilder's tenure. They lost their last three games of last season, and their bad form has continued during the infant stages of the 20-21 Premiership season. They lost at home to Wolves on the opening game of the season. They also returned home from Villa Park without any points, though having John Egan sent off after only twelve minutes did not help their cause. Sheffield Utd have been quite conservative with their Summer spending. They have splashed out 15m for Derby duo Max Lowe and Jayden Bogle, bought Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu in on a season-long loan and swapped Callum Robinson with Oliver Burke (WBA). It remains to be seen whether Pablo Hernandez will be fit to start. The 35yo picked up a groin strain whilst warming up against Fulham, allowing record signing Rodrigo to make his starting debut.
I think the signings of Lowe and in particular Bogle will prove to be good business long term. The keeper Ramsdale from Bournemouth for 18.5 million is also good business. Not as good as Henderson but still a solid signing. Not sure they will emulate last seasons results but I don't think they will get themselves in to trouble either. Decent run club with a decent manager, play some good stuff and the team itself seems to be pretty solid. Fair play to them. I'd probably take a point now if fans were in the stadiums but it's a game we are capable of winning if we can learn to pass the ball a bit better than the last two games. A 50/50 game from where I am sitting.
Would take a draw, but think we are a better team than them, so want a win TBF, think they will be bottom 6,so will give us some idea where we are.
Quite a few promoted teams have a season or two where they flourish before struggling, like Chesh I have Sheffield down as a bottom quarter team so it’s a game I’d like 3 points from. Win this one then we can just enjoy the Man City game not caring about a defeat. For us we’re not going to see the best our new signings have to offer for a few more weeks yet, we might even need to wait a season. Win would be great, a clean sheet a bonus too.
Expecting a free flowing game Sheffield will be desperate for points so will come out to get us which should help us to play our usual game but our defence needs to improve. Expecting 3 points (well wanting anyway) doubt it will be a draw so winner takes all
Yeah my thoughts exactly been expecting a draw all week. A point is not the end of the world. Let's hope this is the game our midfield and defence start to work together. Kalvin can only do so much we need a big game from koch and dallas.
Morning all. With the new signings still settling down last years team seems to have moved up a gear judging by early results. Keep it up lads its easier than we thought.
Biggest worry for me is having no Pablo again and we dont have a suitable replacement yet. Guess Roberts will get the nod but I would give Poveda a try as he would get in amongst Wilders rotating CBs and make their heads spin also we will have the option of swapping things to play 3 at the back if Wilder pushes 2 up front
Interesting that sharp and mcburnie are on the bench. Lets hope our fast passing game works today as Wilder has packed the midfield. Would have thought mcgoldrick was their worst forward he was not very good at this level last season.
