I remember just a few seasons ago when a lot of people were sucking him off as he had had 3 or 4 good games in a row.

Same issues with new players or youngsters. They don't come in and start off well that's them then screwed.

 

I have never had a problem with Shelvey. He is not really suited to our style of play though. He is an excellent passer of a ball. Generally when we try to play an expansive game he stands out as he gets more time on the ball and has more options on the ball. He is not suited to dour backs to the wall defensive displays.

The trouble is I dont think Bruce actually picks the players to play the game style he plans to play. He just picks his players and then tells them what he wants.


And in answer to all your questions I cant actually remember when the last time was we came out trying to play expansive football from the off.

Rafa had him playing like a 20-30 million pound player and still didn't rate him, perhaps that's why Shelvey prefers Bruce, because Rafa thought his work ethic was appalling.

I think shelvey had a good game last night mind.. His best performance or one of the best he's ever had... He missed a couple of chances, but other than that his game was spot on.

 

I also thought he played well. He made some decent tackles.

 

He shouldn't be on corners or free kicks mind... No pace on the deliveries.. He floats them in like he passes... Dreadful

 

The bloke is lazy.

 

We need more mobility in the middle of the park. Shelvey is not the answer.
