Turner and Woods are both centre mids, aren't they? I won't profess to be an expert, though!

I wasn't sure and couldn't find info on them easily. A lot of people seem to forget we have signed Darren Jones too!

    Ryan Doble.

Career so far comparable to those of Grandison and Collins when they signed us, he's a player noone knows anything about and can hardly claim to, so we'll have to wait until we've seen him play before we can really judge him.

Still, I'd be surprised if we don't get another striker in the forthcoming weeks. But as stated above, no one knew anything about Grandison until he played. :D

Yes, I hope we loan out Tommy Bradders to get some game time with a league two maybe a little side short of a bob or two and in need of a striker - probably Accrington/York if Rotherham aren't interested... <whistle>

Doble's record is not immediately inspiring but GT has a track record of improving players like him and it will be interesting to see if Doble gets a place in the starting line-up early next season.

Possibly Doble might be a midfielder or Left Winger, played effectively at Bury

it sounds as though doble will play a similar roll to matty h, a suppot to our strikers up front.

i agree with calum as back up gk, and if neal signs that will provide a squad of 18. i suspect we need another 2 loanees and we have another squad on a shrew string but capable of an impact on league 1.

all this will leave roland with cash in hand in january to plug any gaps in january, and a big smile on his face.

any rumours on compo received for jc. wiyh el tel?. if our marv, el tel, bradders and doble are on song, look out league 1

I think Burton's too young to be used this season. I'm not sure whether Neal is a good enough first choice keeper in League One without the stigma of much competition to spur him on. No disrespect to Callum, I'm sure he'll be a great player, but he will not be ready at the age of 16 to be trying to claim crosses against 6'5" centre forwards. I'd rather us sign an experienced keeper (the likes of Hahnehmann [sp] have been mentioned on blue and amber, that kind of player) for a couple of years as Burton continues to develop.

We do need another keeper on the books, but it would be nice to get Burton registered this season.

Agreed, as a third choice, maybe play him if we get a really, really lower team in the FA Cup, like, say, Brizzle.

The issue of compensation for Collins is an interesting one - with Powell (who I think has an inferior goals to game ratio to Collins) going for several million surely Collins is worth 500K. Also it was interesting to hear what Collins said after he signed for Swindon - he really wanted to join Coventry but did not want to wait until their embargo was lifted. It was clear from this that, despite all the speculation, he never had any intention of signing the new contract with us. If I had to choose between GT and Di Canio as a boss I know who I would choose, even if I lost a few quid in the process.

The amusing thing was that one or two days after he signed for Swindon, Coventry had their embargo lifted.
