You’re offensive, don’t get surprised if people object to off the cuff racist remarks. It’s 2019 ffs.

I didn't think he'd played, does being on the bench rule him out?

I can see what’s upset you but I honestly think it’s a bit of a stretch to construct a racist motive behind that remark.

    Let’s leave it shall we?

    Edit: offending post deleted.

I'd go with the same team, but with Bedders & Sam coming in for Austin & Vesti.
A little light in midfield, but hopefully Lemina is back, so we can have a little strength on the bench if required.

Ralph will probably start Long again, hoping to build on Sat. I felt quite sorry for Shane facing the MOTD cameras - while looking down at his feet - and those bizarre stats. Hopefully it will all be behind him now.

How's this for a youthful team:

    Gunn

    Valery
    Bednarek
    Stephens
    Alfie Jones
    Targett

    Slattery
    Ward-Prowse

    Redmond
    Gallagher
    Sims

Yeah, I know, Valery is suspended. But in theory...

Replace Valery with Ramsey to boost the youth but would rather stick with Cedric to add a bit more experience

Other than goalkeeper we’re pretty close to a team of academy players. 8 were involved in the squad Saturday.

Were we a 'top team' this would have been raved about on MOTD. Whereas it wasn't even mentioned for us.

Not only that, but since Ralph has come in and given youth a chance we look better too.

I too would like to see him stick with this formation, its working and will only get better as the CBs and wing backs get more and more used to it

Chilco is on a good run here - best of the season?

Good opportunity to really build momentum on Wednesday and Ralph gets the FA Cup

I like him more and more he makes me happy!

The less said about Saints young players the more I like it. I have set up a repeat e-mail to Anfield. Every morning they read "SAINTS ACADEMY CONTINUES TO FAIL". Keep up the good work, Gary et al.

The CB conundrum goes on in Maya's absence. The two of them rarely rose above mediocrity against Derby. Indeed our Great Dane was directly involved in the first goal. But they played well on Saturday against a much better team - Bednarek's presence adding another body and maybe some leadership (the latter I couldn't swear to.)

Do they need sparing for Saturday, or dare we play all three? I think this could be the key to an easy win or "Oh sod it, it's penalties".

JWP: “It’s good to have a manager who can communicate well with you and tell you what he wants in his team.”

What the hell were the last couple of managers being paid for?!

Although communication and leadership are what management is all about, I think these are incredibly rare qualities - in all walks of life.

It requires a clear vision of how you think the game should be played, plus the ability to get your team to understand and buy into it. Not many managers can do that. In business, in politics, in sport, this is more often than not completely beyond the people in charge.

Whilst I agree that good leadership quality’s are rare, I would suggest that the bare minimum a premier league manager should be doing is communicating what he wants his players to be doing. :)
