Another solid win against Brighton has given us a 5 points gap above our relegation rivals. Now comes the game we have all been waiting for. Southampton vs Southampton Reserves. Work Conversation: Liverpool Fan: That (Insert Southampton players name here) looks good, we will buy him in the summer. Liverpool Fan: You can have (Insert player Liverpool have bought from Southampton here) he is rubbish Liverpool Fan: If you had kept all of the players you had sold to us you would be top 4 Premier League Southampton vs Liverpool 8:00pm Friday 5th April St Mary's Liverpool find themselves once again top of the table with City 2 points behind with a game in hand. Southampton who have nothing but respect for their reserve team (Van Dijk become the sixth Southampton player signed by Liverpool since 2014 - at a total cost of £171.5m) would love to help them achieve this goal at the risk of falling down the table. Team News This weeks stars of the season, unfortunately my stream for the Brighton game paused every few minutes so i can only account for what i saw. Redmond: Ralph, Bertrand and Hoijbjerg have all implied he was a nightmare to work with but thank god he has altered his attitude as he is becoming a pinnacle part of our team. One of the few players were i lean forward in my seat when he gets the ball. Sad seeing as though i will be 28 on Saturday. Ings: A solid 70 minutes under his belt and we looked a better team with him on the pitch. Still a bit rusty but nice link up play with the others. Hoibjerg: Nice dink of a finish from a tight angle. Injury List Obafemi, Long are out and Vesty is doubtful. Liverpool Injury List Virgil has a slight knock but should play. The Ox is back in training Preferred Team Would go back to a back 3 with Bertrand in for Vesty. Nothing against Stephens, but Liverpool have pace more then height up front and feel he would be better for back tracking against the counter. Gunn Yoshi Bednarek Bertrand Valery JWP Romeu Hoijbjerg Targett Redmond (Ings) *Edited as pointed out by other posters*Ings signed for the wrong Southampton in 2015 so is unable to play against his old team. Austin to come back in for this game. Going for another thrilling 0-0
I have no first-hand knowledge of this, but other posters have highlighted that Ings will be ineligible (or at least, not allowed) to play for Saints v Saints Reserves, as we have loaned him (with a view to buy) from the reserves. In short, Danny Ings is still officially a Liverpool player. I think.
Completely missed this. So used to him playing forgot it was only on loan. Armstrong or Austin to start then
What about the Sims - Long partnership in the League Cup semi-final that was soo good it was put to music?
Long still injured, was tempted to go for Sims to start but think he will come on as a super sub again. Could do with his speed when the reserves are knackered.
Surely we have done more then three games on the bounce before. Seem to remember us being quite good a while back. EDIT The last time Saints won three Premier League games in a row was in Ronald Koeman's final games in charge of the club in May 2016,
I said on the Premier League thread that I think this is a game where we might as well go all out for the win, as we have absolutely nothing to lose. So, somewhat paradoxically, I think we shouldn’t play a recognised striker, as apart from Ings who isn’t eligible, none of our available strikers can actually strike. Counterattacks with pace will be the order of the day, with Ralph’s favourite 4-2-2-2 formation. Any success Tottenham had yesterday came through the middle, not down the wings, so we should do the same: —————-——Gunn———-———— Valery—Bednarek—-Yoshida—Bertrand ————-Romeu——-Højbjerg———— ————Sims———--Armstrong ——— ————-JWP———-Redmond———
Ronald Koeman's final games in charge ______________ The best end to a season ever. Still feels a bit unreal now.
No, I meant to put it on here...to kind of point out where all our points are coming from...starting with Liverpool.
