I shall be having more than a few glasses of scotch before the game so I probably wont care either way!
I somehow turned on the subtitles on the Clasie interview. Always funny when it tries to cope with an accent....to, to becomes 22, t'hree points becomes 23 points, and 'the spirit' becomes disparate.
Who'd have thought a Pochettino side would lose so many points, from winning positions? Nice to have something to hold onto, should we go a goal behind.
Thoughts on the game seem to be similar to mine. Normally I think we'd both consider a draw a good result but we both need a win. As much as we're playing better our game management is pretty poor, which has resulted in us not seeing out enough games, leaving us with less points than we should probably have. Hopefully the Newcastle result has put a rocket up our players and we'll see the Spurs that gave Monaco, City, Bournemouth and West Ham a good thrashing, rather than the one that strolled blindly into danger against Stoke, Leicester and Newcastle. Don't think we've had many boring games against you guys so at least it should be an entertaining match, if nothing else.
Am I right in thinking Spurs are the only side who've in in the Premi every season we have since our promotion, that we haven't yet beaten?
Unfortunately, I don't have much confidence in Gazzaniga so I think we lose this one. Not doing one of those "Oh it's Gazza. Automatic loss, he's horrible, the loss will be solely down to him, etc." type deals. I'm not saying we will 100% for sure lose, just that this is a tough matchup to start with, it doesn't take much to tilt the scales, and my negativity towards Gazza is the ultimate deciding factor for me. If we were in good form, or if Spurs weren't a good team, I'd be much less worried. Maybe Gazza is much better than when we saw him last. I certainly don't see the guy training or anything. But he seemed not that close to being a PL keeper last time around, and it's difficult for me to see how he could have improved so much in less than a year while hardly playing in games at all. I hope he proves me wrong. And I'm actually happy to see him get a chance to start. I think he's kind of rotting on the bench and would give him more starts if possible, or if Forster proves able to return in during the window, I would want him to get loaned out.
He had a storming game against Crystal Palace. He deserved a clean sheet, but Fonte got done by Bolasie and Van Dijk went walk about to gift Cabaye a tap in
I really, really, really hope Gazzinga is excellent at the weekend. I was one who chose not to batter him over the last couple of seasons when he had some poor games, but I am amazed at the short term, tunnel vision of fans. Gazza has suddenly become our saviour after one fantastic performance. I genuinely hope it is the start of him stepping up and this is not a criticism of him, but those fans who no doubt were battering him 18 months ago and now after one game, are raving about him. I just don't get it.
TinTin, less than a week before that game (and yes, he was excellent) you stated that we needed to sign a new keeper. You actually asked if we'd be happy with Davis or Gazza as back up, inferring that'd be bad. Now you are championing him. I don't understand the 180 degree swing.
No one has called him our saviour. He's become our number one in many people's eyes, certainly not seen him referred to as our saviour or anything close to that. Again you come across as overly upset that an ageing 33 year old, who is a loanee and not getting any better, looks like losing his place for a while to a promising 23 year old keeper that we actually own.
