I don't knowi if Danny Cowley is looking for one or two more players to complete his squad before the window closes but I looked on the BBC webpage about some footballers with SPL experience who are now free agents. McNulty being one. I wonder if he would be a useful aquisition with his expericence.

please log in to view this image CONTRACT | Benjani Jr signs professional terms with Yeovil Town Yeovil Town are delighted to announce that Benjani Jr has signed professional terms with the Club. Arriving from Portsmouth in January 2020, the youngster made an instant impression, playing up a year group in the EFL Youth Alliance League. Last season, the young forward scored 25 goals and managed 16 assists in 30 games for the Under-18’s. He was also the top scorer as the Under 18’s won the national college seven-a-side tournament. He also enjoyed involvement with the first team, making his Somerset Premier Cup debut from the substitutes bench. With the 17-year-old signing his first professional contract, it means an Under-18 player has signed professional terms with Yeovil Town for the third season in a row, continuing the previous success of Ollie Haste & Toby Stephens. Following in the footsteps of his father, who was also a professional footballer for the likes of Manchester City, Portsmouth & Auxerre, Benjani Jr now makes his first steps in the professional game. Manager Chris Hargreaves commented, “Firstly I’d like to congratulate Benjani and his family on him signing his first professional contract. “Following his excellent form for the Under-18’s, he has had a number of opportunities to train with the first team and has impressed all of our coaching staff. “The signing is a testament to the excellent work going on within our EPDP scheme and the hard work by all associated with the programme. “He will continue to play for Matt Percival’s Under-18’s side and train with the first team on a regular basis.” Congratulations, Benjani!

please log in to view this image League One side Portsmouth are reportedly confident they can sign Newcastle United winger Matt Ritchie, with the winger making just two appearances in all competitions this season. According to the Chronicle Live, the 33-year-old forward could be a target for Portsmouth in the upcoming January transfer window, with Ritchie playing just one minute of Premier League football this season as an exit from the northeast side looks like a certain for the Newcastle star. Ritchie came through at Portsmouth and spent close to ten years with the south coast side before moving on to the likes of Swindon Town, AFC Bournemouth and eventually Newcastle. And now, a dramatic return to Pompey could be on the cards for the veteran forward. As per the report, Portsmouth could explore a deal to sign Ritchie, with the third-tier club open to offering the versatile winger the chance to finish his career at Fratton Park with interest in the Premier League winger from top sides likely to be low in January. Signed for a reported £12m in 2016 from Bournemouth, Ritchie has made 190 appearances in total for Newcastle, scoring 24 goals and assisting 33 in all competitions, with the winger one of the Toon’s best players in their promotion from the Championship back to the Premier League in 2017. However, it is now clear that Ritchie’s time on Tyneside is coming to a close, and signing for Portsmouth could be the perfect way for the 33-year-old to end his footballing career, with the League One side a club close to the attacker’s heart. Premier League players dropping down a few divisions is hardly anything new, but in Ritchie’s case, it would be quite special for the Gosport-born Scotland international to return to the club where everything started in Portsmouth. And for Pompey themselves, the signing would be quite a coup. After all, Ritchie’s quality would make the attacker one of the best players in League One. And with Portsmouth vying for a play-off spot, the veteran returning to Fratton Park could change everything for Danny Cowley’s side this season.
Imagine the irony if he is signed very early in the transfer window and Pompey play Newcastle in the third round of the FA Cup?
I believe it would be mutually beneficial for Pompey to resign Matt Ritchie, Lapras, as he admits he has unfinished business at Fratton Park due to being sold to Swindon Town by former manager Steve Cotterill (who incidentally did exactly the same thing to Marlon Pack ) when he was a promising prospect all those years ago. I think he would be a brilliant addition to the squad, as it appears that Blackpool may well be thinking of recalling Owen Dale from his loan in January.
The question to be resolved are his wages. I have no.idea of Pompey's weekly wage bill, but Sunderland's is around 175k pe, oñe of the lower outgoings in the Championship. I would imagine Pompey's to be considerable lower than that, maybe 130k.
As I understand things, Ides, Matt Ritchie is willing to take a large drop in salary to return to Fratton Park. I can't see the Eisner family being willing to "breaking the bank" wage wise. We shall have to wait and see.!!
