The drummer from The Offspring claims that he's been dropped because he refused to get vaccinated. The twist? He's got a medical condition and he says he's been advised against it. Guillain-Barré Syndrome, for anyone taking notes. Already had it mildly and got over it quickly, which doesn't mean that he can't get it again. The other twist is that he doesn't really seem to be blaming the band, as the industry is requiring it for touring, recording, etc. That's despite the singer being a big proponent of getting vaccinated, as he's got a Ph.D. in molecular biology from USC and knows what he's talking about. Yes, this guy: please log in to view this image The bloke that wrote Pretty Fly For A White Guy also wrote this thesis: Discovery of mature microRNA sequences within the protein-coding regions of global HIV-1 genomes: predictions of novel mechanisms for viral infection and pathogenicity. Obviously. Still looks too much like the singer from Spinal Tap for me to get it out of my head:
This is a real ****er. Bands have to work...Strummer kicked Topper out of The Clash because his drug dependency made it impossible for him to tour and he wouldn't get treatment. I'd hope that The Offspring look after Pete Parada, but having not worked for getting on for a year and a half, they can't be inactive forever. What a ****ing world!
We're off to the Stone Valley Festival in just under a couple of weeks. Today, they hit us with this... please log in to view this image Now, we're not ****ing stupid and are both double immunised...but this festival is being held out in the open, in a field. If you can go to an underground club with so/so ventilation with no checks of any sort...no mask...or any other form of precaution and leap all over your fellow punters, this seems somewhat excessive? Anyway, the only thing likely to deter me is the weather. If it's really wet, I'm not camping in a field so that I can watch The Happy Mondays, I'm going home.
It looks as though the need for touring bands to get visas won't apply in 19 of the EU states. https://www.theguardian.com/politic...zVoA0n1USwIMmum0WPXmbP89CXJScGhIqxF5BjN8yqmiA A number of major countries are missing - Spain and Portugal stand out, at first sight. Let's hope that this administration of incompetents manage not to **** it up.
Oasis at Knebworth, 250,000 there and 5% of the population applied for tickets really seems to belong to a very different time.
Just an Orange County punk-styled song about how Onkel Walter stiffed his animators out of money while not allowing them credit, the notorious shindig thrown for the staff after the release of Snow White, and the 1941 Disney animators strike caused by absurd pay inequality, sociopathic working hours and refusal to allow them to join the Screen Cartoonists Guild
