Suarez challenge

Hi, Saints fan here in peace.

Thought Suarez not have eyes for the ball at all and should definitely have got a straight red.

I'd like to hear thoughts on this.

I'd have actually sent Skrtel off as well for being reckless. Yes he had eyes for the ball but it was a nasty challenge and left a huge gash on Bale.

 

Good to see Suarez have a quiet, incident-free return...

You'd think he'd have been told to keep out the nastier side of his game (diving, hacking, crowd incitement) for his return, but common sense bypassed Anfield some time ago.

 

god forbid a player should get a cut in a contact sport And as if Suarez deliberately meant to kung fu kick Parker in the chest, what on earth would he stand to gain from that when the balls in play and he has a chance to go for it.

 

Like he was ever going to change. Saturday is going to be fun.

I thought a booking was probably about right for each, though both committed further offences that could've seen them dismissed.
Skrtel went in with his foot up on Friedel and Suarez handled, then had a go at the ref for giving the correct decision.
Both would probably have been yellows, if they weren't already booked.

Nothing too blatant and outright, though and I thought that the ref had a good game, overall.

EDIT: Having seen that again, Suarez was just looking straight at Parker, wasn't he? Not nice.

 

Suarez booted Parker in the mid-drift on purpose. He didn't have eyes for the ball. And when he connected with Parker he was miles away from a ball dipping slowly. Anyone saying otherwise needs to look at the incident more carefully. It is a clear cut red card and there is no argument about it.

The Skrtel challenge is open to debate and it depends on how strict you'd referee as an individual. I completely disagree with anyone defending Suarez.

 

Are you blind Red, Parker gave him a little nudge and wobbled him off balance just before it, it was clear as day Parker was going to head that, Suarez lashed out imo, and so did one of the commentators, "well Parker is clearly going to head that, he's got away with that."

 

get real, you are making yourself look like a fool here.

 

I think he was trying to kick King and Parker got in the way.

 

The ball was two feet above where his foot was aimed...

Suarez is an unpleasant piece of work - can't last long in european football - back to south america before long, where such agression is OK .......until someone gets attacked by a supporter

 

You're trying to rationalise an irrational act, Red.
He wasn't going to win the ball, so he lashed out.

He didn't stand to gain anything. Most actions like that are born out of frustration (a little nudge from Parker and lil' ol' Suarez spits out his dummy...... again). Face it the guy has history. Lashed out instinctively, maybe thought better of it in a split second as there wasn't any follow through with his foot and then feign contriteness for the referee. There's nothing logical about most footballers actions.

Logoc doesn't apply to football most of the time. Why else would QK spend £35million on a donkey? See? No logic at all.

 

Red - who knows what was going through the little scumbag's head, or why he would do it - but it doesn't change the fact that he did. I guess he was seemingly overcome with a desire to hurt Parker that overtook all logic to try and take the chance.

 

He is a nasty piece of work with a sick mind.

 

You have to remember that this is a player who bit one of his opponents during a break in play.
He's a bit, er... different.

 

He's a bit special is more like it. Next seasons kit will have a special one for Suarez. A nice red jacket with the arms tied behind his back and a Hannibal Lector mask to protect the opposition players. I think even then he'd just be like the Knight from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. He'll just run around head-butting everybody.... like those "special" kids whose only means of communication seems to be attacking everybody else.... or themselves if no-one is around.
