Getting shot of Lemina and keeping Reed would be ok by me, I reckon Ralph could work his magic on him.
I'd love it if we kept Reed, but the balls in his court as he wants first-team football & only has a year on his contract. However, can't imagine he'll want to go to Fulham and be Lemina's understudy either.
Yeah let’s not kid ourselves, Lemina is a very good player when motivated. Whether Scott Parker can do that at Fulham remains to be seen but hasn’t worked out here so time to move on
I'm sort of the other way round. I know Reed has his fans, but ultimately he's largely an unknown quantity at PL level. Whereas Lemina has shown he can thrive in the PL - when he can be bothered. Now that Lemina clearly isn't so fussed about a move to a big side (and it can't even be said to be about money for him, if it's just a loan deal to Fulham), there's arguably scope for Ralph to get hold of him and turn him into someone who can be bothered. And if that was to happen, we would have our PEH replacement.
I really like Lemina as a player, but even when he was bothered I don’t think he suits Ralph’s style and I don’t think he is good enough to change the whole style for
If Ralph couldn't get Lemina on his side and motivated to play, not sure Scott Parker will be able too either...
Surely that will free up some funds for a new CM? Although it partially depends if the loan is with an option to buy or an obligation.
Lemina flatters to decieve for me, he looks good when he beats players with some nifty footwork but I don't reckon he's that great at the basics in CM, passing, tackling and most of all awareness and vision.
Disappointed. I think Reed will quietly do very well for them. With Rom, JWP, Smallbone, we look veeeery light in that area. I know the lark is that PEH was some trash player but what he did well for us he did very well. His pure output in terms of minutes played, distance ran, interceptions, tackles is not going to be matched unless we sign a player with those qualities. Rom is a better ball winner but a worse and less ambitious passer. Smallbone is a much better passer than any of them but he needs to be given bloody horse steroids before he’s going to be able to play the amount we’ll need him. We’ve only been linked with McKennie and he can do some of that, but is a worse passer. I’d be shocked if they threw Jankewitz in. It just feels very early with him. He’s clearly a good player though and I’d expect him to make some appearances. But it would feel like relegation Championship days where we were throwing in Matty Patterson (last seen at Gosport) because we were broke and desperate for a warm body to stick up front.
