    It's a big gamble though. Sure Salisu might sell for 40m at some point. But we need quality players NOW, not a year down the road. There's no point planning too far into the future, if you are an injury or two away from being a bottom-three team.

    Buying mid-20's you know more precisely about their quality. And you should be able to make your money back selling someone at 28 if they are playing well.

    As CGT says, goalies! <doh> We “wasted” £10M on Gunn. Have 2x wage expensive average PL keepers, of which Ralph doesn’t know who is best & we keep getting linked to others. Might be media bollox or maybe we are lining 1x out. Either way, I find it amazing we’re even linked when there’s plenty of other positions to fill. Maybe it’s just smoke? Yeah I should have stayed just liking CGT’s comment & left this waffle <laugh>

    Keeper links could easily be seen by journos that we swap keepers over all the time = Ralph doesn’t like either keeper = we want to buy a new number one

    A few years back then. General consensus is he’s good going forward but ropey AF defensively.

    Not buying that he’s ‘too good’ for us though. We have England internationals in our team, and yet Firpo is nowhere near the Spain squad.

    I was about to write a reply saying that we only produced a few good players over about 10 years. But then I started writing them down and I realised just how many good players we made.
    We can’t have suddenly stopped training them. Must be an issue with recruitment? Or is it performing as expected for a small PL club academy?
