Fulham were obligated to sign Lemina for £8m if they had stayed up. He had a decent season for them so I'm not surprised there is interest. I think the fee that previously in the press was Newcastle's initial valuation - before Ashley started coming up with reasons to push the price down further.
Just seen this on Twitter land…… Giorgos Giakoumakis is coming for £7m. Obafemi will go on loan to #afcb and Long is off to rejoin Reading. Source - Office staff at #saintsfc Not sure myself but I will keep an eye out for any of this happening anyway.
So, Newcastle want to pay 4m for Lemina. We want 8m for him. Blackburn want 15m for Armstrong, because 40% of that - or 6m - will go to his previous club, which is Newcastle. But we seem to want to pay only 10-12m. This feels like a maths GCSE exam question.
Kane to Citeh for £160m That surely means Danny is off to Spuds. £35m would be the price i'd give to Levy take it or leave it.
With Lemina about to go for around £5 million and another big wage of the bill, I wonder if we will now push for the deal for Armstrong? Club have sold players they wanted to in Hoedt, Gunn and Lemina whilst freeing up around £12 million in wages per season if you include Bertrand.
Has anyone else seen that the Scottish Sun has printed, Forster has rejected a contract extension from us?
If Kane does go, that could really change our transfer plans, IF Ings were to then go to Spurs. Replacing Ings with Armstrong would not be a good move, and signing him should be in addition to Ings or in addition to an Ings replacement. All speculation of course, but if Ings does go then surely we'd be better off pooling the money from an Ings sale and the Armstrong transfer and putting it all towards someone like Edouard.
I mean, is Edouard twice the player Armstrong is? And worth such a gamble as you suggest? Personally I'd say a prolific Championship striker should be respected more than a prolific SPL striker. I've seen very little of either so am happy to be corrected by anyone who knows better.
It’s that time of the year where we hear these stories and you wonder if it’s been deliberately leaked that we are interested in Giakoumakis so that Blackburn then think they might miss out on the sale of Armstrong altogether. Leading them to review accepting our current bid for him.
Somebody who hasn’t been mentioned much is Stephens. He, like Ings and Vestergaard, only has a year left on his deal. I assume he is far more likely to sign a new deal than those 2 but still a bit odd not heard anything about him this summer
