"Any of those players that are in that group, I'd love to work with them longer than this season, whether that's Jaden, Greavesy, Liam, Tyler, Fabio, but I love working with them, and that goes for every single one of those players that are in our squad," Rosenior told Hull Live on the eve of Saturday's must-win trip to Watford. "The players who haven't played; Greg Docherty came on for eight minutes, ran himself into the ground for eight minutes. Cyrus (Christie) comes on heads one out of our box in the last game. These are outstanding players and outstanding people, and I love working with this group. "I still believe that we have a really, really good chance if we play to our potential, that we can do something special this year. Other people can write us off, I don't really care, but one of my biggest motivations is to keep a group together for as long as possible because I don't think that this group have even scratched the surface of what they can achieve. "Another thing is the ifs, buts and maybes, but I know that if I'd had this group in pre-season, we'd be in an even better place than we are now and that says a lot for their backing that Acun and Tan (Kesler) have given me as the head coach, a lot for the players and the way they've taken on board the information. You speak to other clubs in this league and we're respected now, teams fear us at home and away and that's something that wasn't there when I first joined this club again."
Ooh, deep breath. This summer's transfer business feels like a big one to me. Get it right, and I think we have an outstanding chance of automatics next season. So many variables in this one too!
Yes but it also likely will be a lot like this season, a big turnaround of playing staff, a long time settling. Hopefully this time around we have a much more balanced squad from the word go and we’re not having to do a second mini overhaul in January again.
Really hoping we can get Vedat Muriqi over the line this summer. He's scored goals everywhere he's been.
Priority this summer for incomings should be strikers, full-backs on either side and a long-term replacement for Seri, preferably one with ball-winning qualities.
Gotta be in for Marc Leonard for the Seri replacement. I think Brighton may keep hold if they get europe again though. 2.5 tackles a game, 1.4 interceptions, then on top of that 1.5 chances created per game. 5 goals 6 assists from midfield, only 22.
I find it amazing that a midfielder, or any player for that matter, only managed a couple of tackles and interceptions during a game. Seems ridiculously low.
I think the definition of a tackle on stat websites is keeping possession after dispossessing an opponent or putting it out of play. Recoveries is probably one someone like Slater does better in. Our midfielders all average really low tackles made
Duels as well in the modern game. To be fair I think by and large it’s a combo of not having great defensive midfielders and the way we play means there’s not a lot of chances to “tackle”.
I think we just lack the transition protection in the middle of the park. Slater, Morton and Seri aren’t very mobile between them. Slater presses the best but doesn’t get the ball back as much as Seri who’s smarter off the ball and has very good positioning. Morton/Slater are often chasing shadows because of their positioning
