Crossed wires often happen when people (KIO) post a reply without quoting it! I too am very happy with the way things are progressing at the club, I'm also happy Naismith appears to be staying. I ALWAYS treat your posts with the utmost respect that they inevitably deserve! <crawl, crawl>
Some logical, rational thoughts on Jacob's exit to the Toon. http://www.norwich.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=497782
Overdraft? We had £23m debt and cleared it when Lambert took us up , 2 more seasons in th prem at over £100m without breaking the bank relegation promotion relegation then 1 season with parachute payments . So 4 out of the last 6 seasons with way over £100m a year and we are skint already ?
100%! A few of us have been saying the same thing for months. I really can't understand where they have wasted all the money. Even the dreadful transfers haven't been insane money! We have been so poorly run, it's criminal.
We were promoted on one of the seasons the money took a big jump up. So comparatively, we should be in a much stronger position than the bulk of the Championship.
I don't know whether to be happy or sad about this. On the one hand the board appear to have been as good as their word and spent every available penny to try to improve and invest in the playing squad. Even perhaps taking a bit of a gamble to try to get straight back up. On the other hand, we have spent that money horendously and if our current situation says anything, it is that our chances of getting back to the land of milk and honey with the self funding model would appear very slim. Bah!
Well it looks like we can barely stay afloat even with parachute payments, if we fail to go up we could go full circle and end up in administration again? Hardly seems worth it .
Tell that to the bank manager when you are a team like Leyton Orient and possibly us (again) in the not too distant future.
It all points to what we all already know, the board whilst well meaning have generally been terrible at running a football club. I'm not even a true Naismith basher in so much as I still think he is a good player and could be important for us moving forward. However no one can say that paying £8.5m for him on very high wages by our standards was folly. Other clubs with more money than us are sensible enough to have a transfer age cut off, what were they thinking gambling so heavily on a player who whilst good is not worth nearly what we paid for him, leave alone what we continue to pay him? I hope that all this cost cutting means we know our financial limitations and that none of the newbies will be a problem to pay if/when we stay down following the coming season. Between some talented youth and that cost cutting I can't see us even near administration, but then I am surprised that we are so skint now! Bah!
Read that again General. Is that what you really meant to say - or is there a 'not' that belongs towards the end of the statement?
Serious honesty from Middlesbrough FC to their fans. As opposed to merely 'undisclosed' every firkin time http://www.mfc.co.uk/news/mfc-clarifying-transfer-facts
This is a great example from MFC. Let's hope this signals the winds of change and other clubs start to follow suit now
Interesting comparison with Watkins, I hadn't thought about their stats in that way. As I said above, I don't agree that Josh is an exact replica, and did think Jacob improved at tracking back. I've no problem with undisclosed, but I appreciate that attitude!
According to the EDP City are interested in Nuremburg midfielder Hanno Behrens http://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/spor...-nuremburg-midfielder-hanno-behrens-1-5110417 would like to see us sign 1 or 2 proven championship players as-well who know this division & the english game.
You would know about going deep deep deep down the leagues wouldn't you mikey, you've got the experience of being there haven't you? never experienced the delights of being at the top table have you?
