Wyke's had a good season with 25 goals, but the two seasons before that he got 5 and 4. He might be a one-season wonder like our Eaves.
He had a decent scoring record at Bradford and Carlisle, looks to be a proven goalscorer for the lower leagues, but not sure he could make the step up to EFL Championship level.
He's capable in L1 in the right team, its in all parties best interests that he moves on. He deserves some first team football and to find his spark again
You'd have thought when we were interested in the Gillinham CB, that Eaves might have been used as a makeweight...
Wigan Athletic have confirmed the signing of former Sunderland striker Charlie Wyke on a three-year deal.

McShane will be best remembered in football circles for introducing the legendary running-down-the-clock method which all professionals now swear by: The towel drying of your hair before the last throw-in of the game technique.
In-demand forward Ryan Longman has agreed a season long loan move to Hull City from Premier League side Brighton amid interest from Nottingham Forest, becoming Grant McCann’s fifth signing of a productive summer so far. Longman, a 20-year-old striker is highly rated at the Amex Stadium having been with the Seagulls since the age of 12 and penned a new two-year contract on the south coast recently. He spent last season on loan at League One strugglers AFC Wimbledon where he found the net nine times in 51 appearances for the Dons.
Brighton & Hove Albion have loaned forward Ryan Longman to Hull City on a season-long basis. The 20-year-old has made one first-team appearance for Brighton and scored nine goals in 52 games on loan at League One side AFC Wimbledon last season. Redhill-born Longman joins the Tigers following their promotion to the Championship for 2021-22. "I met Grant McCann and visited the stadium and I was really impressed," Longman told BBC Radio Humberside. "The way Grant presented himself, his philosophies and how he is as a person really drew me in." Tigers boss McCann added: "He had a tremendous season last year at AFC Wimbledon and was a top target of ours. "He's got pace, runs in behind and is versatile. We like people who can play in different positions at the top end of the pitch as it gives us better options." BBC
He speaks well. I’d like to see another experienced centre forward. Longman seems to have spent most of his time as a winger. We’re a bit lacking for competition for Magennis.
We've been after him a while and have beaten off some decent clubs to sign him. I think this may be the trigger to see Tom leave
Is he a striker? I got the impression from his interview that he plays more on the wing. I though he was a replacement for Adelakun and Whyte from last season?
I agree it would be nice to see a proven experienced CF, ideally a proven goalscorer. Highly unlikely it's going to happen though, for several reasons, including: - it simply isn't 'our model' - likely cost (even in these harder times) - we actually have lots of forward options now (links also with first point above)
Who's footing the wage bill? Surely it can't be us considering our alleged bottom of the table budget and penny pinching owners?
