The current U21s are very poor. I saw them last week and apart from Paul Casey there is no one there with the ability to step up. Mbick has been a regular in the U18s. He has got the physicality to push on. He certainly knows where the goal is.

Makes things easier, with the unexpected increase of membership to 17.5 recently threads have got a bit muddled.

Should we sign Wickham? He's looked OK, but we've already got Chuks who never looks fit these days and now Leaburn out until October. Wickham's 6-week contract must be up now, so NJ has to decide. Depends who else is out there I suppose.

No to Connor Wickham. He has got the mobility of a tortoise on Valium.

Wickham lives in Farnborough Park. He’s financially set up for life & doesn’t need to work after football, not bad for someone who’s had a relatively modest career yet secured a couple of lucrative moves.

As for retaining him , it’s a “no” from me.

Whoever we do get in will need to get better service from a more fluid midfield. NJ's aim when he came in was to make us hard to beat, and having Anderson as the attacking mid seems to have been part of that because of the way he fights for the ball and harries the opposition for 90+ minutes. I like Anderson but if we're going to improve our style of play we need someone more like Fraser could be. Not for a minute saying get him back, but for a while he was very good for us, scoring a few and creating a few too. You can't expect Andy Scott to come up with the sort of creative player we need in that position so I hope NJ has someone in mind.

I’d like to say an absolute no to Wickham, but……who will we get instead. Someone decent or another journeyman.

It’s all very well trying to sign the best strikers, but they cost money (apart from Alfie :emoticon-0152-heart). If we carry on with the policy of bidding for the best strikers by offering their clubs 50% of what they are worth, we won’t get anyone decent so we might as well stick with what we’ve got. Scoring goals wasn’t our main issue last season.

If your post comes true we'll be needing a new manager soon as well.

Yes. Can’t see Nathan putting up with that sort of sh*t for too long, although it depends what clauses are in his contract as to whether he can walk away or if he’ll have to do what all of our other recent managers have done and wait until he’s sacked.

Nathan Jones is sitting down individually with the squad today.

You would hope that the vast majority of the conversations are very short ones.

Some classic WYM’ing on ‘another site” by Mr Ronnie Moore, who wants to retain the entire defence & keeper <laugh>

    Let the clear-out commence.
A 98 year low demands it.

90% of them need drumming out.

    No room for sentiment.

I think that as long as we get top quality replacements in targetted positions there doesn't need to be wholesale carnage. Look at the difference in Bolton's defence since Santos got injured, so I'd keep Hector but give him a proper partner. Gillesphey needs to be moved on but REG as a squad player I'd keep. Keep Small and Ramsay, loan out Asiimwe, move on Edun. Coventry is on a long contract, Keep Anderson as a squad player, Fingers crossed for Dobbo, but we need two more midfielders, I'd keep Campbell, he's got something, and if there is a decent striker out there with no fitness issues buy him. Most important of all a commanding goalie. Isted can go, AM-B can stay if he's prepared to sit on the bench. We also need cover at FB but we're not going to get a full squad of outstanding L1 players, realistically, so Let NJ assemble a smaller squad of better players, preferably who don't have injury problems and can play more than one position.

Definitely agree that we need a smaller but much better squad, and Nathan Jones has also said they he prefers to work with a smaller group.

Gillesphey & Tyreece Campbell were both disappointing last season, and must be among those with sweaty palms today.

Keep May, Dobbo, Small, Ramsay, Kanu, Asiimwe, REG, Leaburn.

A couple of others as squad players/finishers - Chuks, Coventry, Campbell, Anderson.

Ditch the rest and then SPEND SOME PROPER MONEY TO BRING IN TOP QUALITY REPLACEMENTS.
