I think his first season was his best for us, more good than bad performances and had maybe a dozen or so really good games. Second season he reverted to form, inconsistent with maybe half a dozen good games. His last season I can't remember any top performances from him. The talent is there for him to be a decent championship level player, and maybe a few Scotland caps as well. It's his attitude that drags him back and he's really going to have next to nothing to look back on when his career is over.
Maguire must be a nightmare to play with, his favourite trick was to play a one two , but ran into a position in which he could not take the return pass he did this time after time, even when he was playing well. I often wonder what his involvement was with the McGeady / Parkinson spat after the burger pic. which cost all , except him, dear.
League one looks tough next year, tougher than ever perhaps. Derby have a rookie manager and rookie owners. I do like Rosenior but we know how league one works. Derby have 8 or 9 players lined up already. Plenty with championship experience, but most are a bit older than might be ideal. I think there first 6 games will tell us what we need to know. My bet would be they will fall short, but will start to build the basis of a side that includes some good young academy lads where they have some good talent.
I really hope Derby and do well next season, also hope Rooney stays in the game as both were victims of circumstance imo.
Rooney could have a good career as manager. He comes across well when he talks about football and its clear he has a great deal of intelligence and passion for it. If the rumours are true of him putting his money in to pay his players shows a little bit about his character as a manager who would look after his players, which will bode well for him.
The Blackburn link is interesting with our new scout coming from there. Sounds ideal for what we want. Can play all across the forward line. Also linked with Alex Smithies according to someone on RTG.
Never heard of this chap but he’s only 20 so fits the bill for our recruitment. Certainly a bag of tricks. McGeady with pace
He's an exciting player, very raw but will get the fans off their feet. Brighton have some really good players that I would take on loan - Matt Clarke (CB), Michael Karbownik (RB) , Leo Ostigard (CB - very unrealistic as loads of teams in Serie A are looking at him)
Heard a few people saying £3.5 million is a bit steep but bear in mind, it’s not £3.5 million on a player we know nothing about, a player who doesn’t know anything about our club. There’s always a risk that any new signing won’t meet expectations or even fit in. This lad has had been with us last season, knows everything about us. The risk factor of him not fitting in is non existent. He knows everything about us and by all accounts loved his time here. He may see his opportunities in the future at Tottenham limited so we are perfect as he knows, since promotion, he’s going to be playing at a higher level and if he realises his obvious potential and stands out next season we will probably lose him but reap the rewards of a healthy profit in the future. He would be a perfect signing
