https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/22521982/maddison-barnes-premier-league-spurs-newcastle-transfers/ Us and Spurs battlin for both Maddison and Barnes, hmmm? Surely we're the more attractive prospect there, as we have Champions League to offer, plus we have an actual ****ing manager.
Spurs are more likely to pay Maddison closer to the 250k per week that he's said to be asking for. For Barnes, Leicester are supposedly asking for a transfer fee that is very close in price to what Diaby would likely cost. I therefore hope we stay clear.
Barnes is a good player but probably not worth the asking price. Maddison I say we should consider going up to 50mish then if he asks for too much wages then forget about him.
Depends if he has ambition or just wants to earn a fat pile of cash then. If he wants £250k per week, I have no doubt Spurs will be dumb enough to pay it, would be about twice as much as our top earners ( Isak and Bruno I believe are on £120k per week), so not happening.
Meh, I'm becoming a bit disillusioned with Maddison. I feel spurs will chuck more money and massive wages for big names and continue to decline.
TBH don't care about Madison. Decent player but £250,000 a week. Delusional! Better players to found in Europe.
He won't make the step down to be fair. Does pose an interesting question. Would you sell him and use the proceeds to strengthen the side? Personally, I love him and would hate to sell him but wonder what people think
As much as I love Bruno, it's certainly not beyond question. Regardless of how rich the owners are, financial restrictions are largely revenue based. So it's possible that to build up steadily over the next 3-5 years, we might need to do a 'bit of a Brighton' (i.e find a gem and then sell them for more money, so we can find 2 more in their place and so on). Would really, really love to keep Bruno, Botman, Isak, etc., but it is always possible they could be sold to add funds for building the squad strength. The next 2 transfer windows should be very telling as to whether we can genuinely improve without having to sell some of our better players.
Think our big advantage over the Brighton’s of this world is that we can increase our commercial and matchday income to improve our FFP position, whereas it’s harder for them. Ashley took little interest in that, preferring to use the club as a cheap promotional tool for his own businesses. The fact that we are in Champions League should also improve our marketability. Hopefully that means less selling of key assets to fund new purchases.
We are building the team around Bruno, your ball playing midfielder is what you build around. We've seen what we were like without him, a totally different team, which is why we still played him with one ankle. He's class, keep at all costs.
Hendrick has a better games to goal ratio than ASM for NUFC, isn’t that right @G4rdToonArmy and @QWOP ?
