I could, in theory, see Isak moving to be honest but would add that he's 24, got around 5 years on his contract, scored 31 goals in 52 games so far for us and we paid £60m odd for him. He's also clearly improving still. I honestly don't think £100m would be enough and probably the fee would be north of £120m, I just don't think anyone would offer the kind of figure we'd be happy to sell him for. I think the same with Bruno, it's not that they aren't going to be sold it's that given their contract length we've got no push to do so and the figures involved wont be matched.
Yep they wouldn’t come cheap, but a lot will depend on what the players want too. I imagine they were expecting to be playing CL or at least European football next season… so if one of the top 4 come in for them, it could make things interesting Isak is quality and I hoped we were gonna sign him before you did. Would love to see him at Arsenal, he’d be just what we’re after.
Depends on how much needs to be raised in player sales based on the spending of half a billion in a few windows. the CL money will help a little, but without the EL conference cash?
Yeah I've no idea what our FFP situation is likely to be at the moment. In all seriousness we were in a position to be able to spend more than most other clubs in our position due to the self-inflicted austerity in prior years (when we'd been turning a decent profit each year) but that doesn't square much with FFP as it's just last 3 years. There seems to be a lot of different interpretations from different teams and papers seem to think Chelsea are going big again... I wont pretend to understand. If we get good money I think any player is for sale, in all honesty I think that's sensible. £120m for Isak or £100m for Bruno would probably free up a few purchases. It's surely the correct way forward at the moment.
yeah, that's my problem with FFP, if you make 200m 1 year, then for the next 3 years lose 50m, you breach FFP despite still being 50m in credit, seems a bit stupid imo. Though, in your case, you had a bit of an advertizing hole as Sports Direct paid Newcastle 1m in total.
There were pros and cons to Ashley (and lack of any effort to bring in revenue because he didn't care in the slightest was a huge negative) but the last few years of his ownership the usual complaint from the fans was that we had ten of millions of profit each year just sat around and not reinvested. It meant that we were comfortably able to spend 200m+ in the first few years without stress but that period has passed now and it does feel like surely we now need to sell to buy. It kind of doesn't feel right as we had 14 years of living well within our means but would have been better from an FFP point of view throwing £50m each year at trying to grow revenue streams even though we'd be half a billion worse off as a result.
Desire Doue is £35m alone. We'll use the £120m from McTominay to buy Cole Palmer for a nifty £50m and still have change to fix the roof.
He's a lifelong United fan. He feels physically sick every time he puts on that Chelsea shirt. Plus the chavs need the peanuts we'll be paying for him. So that's enough to push through a move. Transfer request incoming.
After yesterday's signings of Doue and Palmer to United, which many of you may recall I broke exclusively on this very website.... today we will be signing Todibo! Yes the world class CB is on his way to Old Trafford... as soon as someone can find the keys to the gate. Failing that he'll be airlifted in through the roof which as we know has a lovely access.
Check the paperwork mate ... apparently you're signing Carlton Palmer and Scooby Dooby Doue ... both of whom could outsprint Cassiebiro over 100 metres...
