A fantastic card at Musselburgh with some potential stars on show - big round of applause to the racecourse executive for getting such a decent card together and they will hopefully be rewarded with a bumper crowd and some smart performances. El Namoose goes in the opener as a warm-up for a potential Supreme Novices bid (my dad has him at 40s for rhe festival race so will be hoping for a bold showing) and Hargam will look to cement his Triumph Hurdle credentials later. The listed handicap hurdle sees former Supreme winner Cinders and Ashes attempting to come back from injury but this is ultra-competitive and Don McCain will surely be hoping he can show some of his old sparkle and maybe get in one of the festival handicaps? There's also an Albert Bartlett trial, a decent looking Hunter Chase with Current Event looking to complete a 7-timer and it all finishes off with a Pertemps Qualifier. Superb stuff
Open Eagle starts off over 2m4f today so anyone with ante post dockets for the Supreme can probably flush them down the toilet - smells like Willie's Neptune horse to me .................
Owners representative said they're definitely not going to Cheltenham this year Oddy. Don't have time to get enough experience was the explanation. A little sporting ew L15 for me: Jupitor and Gold Patrol at Punchy, Cool Macavity and Bothy at Musselburgh. Good luck all.
Hope to see Cinders and Ashes regain some of that old form! If he does 18/1 is a huge price but he does hve a lot of questions to answr. Also nice to see the forums favourite trainer sending a few nice horses up too!
Fair enough Chan, it just makes me wonder why he's then been entered in the Supreme, Neptune and Albert Bartlett. I wonder if Mullins has some sort of complex and wants to walk around town saying "look at all my Cheltenham entries". Strange.
2/9 for him to be the festivals top trainer seeing that he will have 50 or so horses running and the amout of favs he has that is a very big price and come 5.30 pm on Tuesday 10th march he will be 1/10 or the bookies would have paid out already I won't be having money on it but it does look a nr certainty of the festival apart from Faugheen of course
Yep Oddy, he's got 9 at the top of the Neptune betting and 7 similarly in the Supreme, albeit a lot of the same horses. As regards Open Eagle if Ruby gets off today and thinks he's their best chance of winning the Neptune he'll run. Willie and Ruby seem to be very persuasive with their owners.
It depends how you look at it I suppose. Take day 1 - Douvan could well have beaten trees so far, I think it is only the lack of credible opposition which makes his price so short. However, I'm pretty sure something will beat him at Cheltenham. Un De Sceaux has looked a machine thus far but he has fallen once and I wouldn't be backing odds-on in the Arkle - I got 13/8 on the day about Sprinter Sacre for his Arkle and the whole world knew he was the festival good thing. Faugheen has The New One and Jezki to beat - by no means a "given". Annie Power may ort may not even make the race, and if she does, will she be ready? No idea about the NH Chase, although Don Poli seems more likely to be in the RSA???
Lucy said post race that she needed to talk to the owners but would probibly be heading to Cheltenham & be aimed at the 2016 National....a beast of a horse! Lucy Wadham Racing
