The going at Chantilly this afternoon is reported as Good but the French definition does not match ours and given the amount of rain that they have had, it looks like Roaring Lion would have been up against it in the Prix Du Jockey Club. The British bookies clearly favour the foreign raiders in some of the support card. I could not be having Altyn Orda in the Prix Sandringham (1:30) as she has never won on going easier than (British) Good. A Momentofmadness goes from a Chester handicap to the Group 2 Prix Du Gros Chêne and is just 6/1, although the home team do not look Group 2 standard either. In the Grand Prix du Chantilly, the centre of attention will be Waldgeist but he may have most to fear from last year’s Prix Foy winner Dschingis Secret, visiting from Germany once more, rather than Charlie Appleby’s Rare Rhythm dropping down in trip. Quite a few recent runnings of the Prix Du Jockey Club have turned out to be messy but the favourite, Poulains winner Olmedo, has obvious claims for Jean Claude Rouget. I wonder if the Japanese will be tuning in to watch son of Deep Impact Study Of Man? He won a four runner Prix Greffulhe but this will be only his third start. It will also be Key Victory’s third start after winning the Newmarket Stakes. Ballydoyle have just the four here, two of which (Hunting Horn and Flag Of Honour) come from the Chester Vase that yielded the Derby runner-up. However, Ryan Moore is on ROSTROPOVICH, convincing winner of the Dee Stakes; and I think the Frankel colt can gain compensation for Coolmore for yesterday’s reverse. That is assuming that Ryan can avoid the inevitable traffic trouble today...
240 Listowel Patuano 250 Fakenham Princeton Royal 410 Perth Martiloo 3 singles and a treble (despite what my bookie says this is not a trixie as that would be doubles and all i ask is you read the slip to see what I've asked for i couldnt care less if the next 1000 customers you have place a trixie that is not my f**king bet) rant over (unless I get 2 up in which case if you want to interpret it as a trixie then I wont complain)
Yes, but he has not won since last year’s Prix Ganay, when the only Group 1 opponent was Hawkbill. He keeps finding ways to lose – including a remote third in this year’s Prix Ganay and when second to the German horse in last year’s Prix Foy. If he wins it is a poor Group 2.
He was 3rd to Enable in the Arc over course on distance on soft ground, clearly the best form in the race. He got no run behind the German horse in the Foy and gets 6 pounds from him here. Was given far too much to do in the Ganay and had the Lockinge winner behind. Waldgeist got beat by Danhehill Kodiac last season. Cloth of Stars is a tricky horse but hes the best horse in this race, will start clear favourite, and will win with a clean trip.
Following Olly Murphy at fakenham today Emma's dilemma, yensir, bisoubisou patent hopefully pay for my meal out tonight
hi folks! french derby is coming up in a few minutes, and it features one of my favourite flat horses,HEY GAMAN!this ultra tough horse should again be in the shake up here,if in the same form as a few weeks ago,in the french guineas,so,at decent e w odds, has to come into the reckoning..
