Harry Darling returns to the Swansea City starting line-up as Russell Martin makes one change to his side for this afternoon’s meeting with Sunderland. Defender Darling comes in for Nathan Wood in the solitary alteration from the team that started the FA Cup draw at Bristol City. Steven Benda continues in goal, while Darling joins Ben Cabango, Joel Latibeaudiere and Ryan Manning in the Swansea defence. Captain Matt Grimes, Jay Fulton and Joe Allen all line up together in midfield, with Ollie Cooper set to operate ahead of them. Liam Cullen and Joel Piroe lead the line for the visitors at the Stadium of Light. The match turned on the penalty and sending off - from the ‘penalty incident’ the ball went to Joey who passed it to Cooper, who got clattered. If Stroud had given the penalty, the foul and red card would never have happened. I thought it should have been a penalty….. I’ve not seen Piroe’s goal, but seen the other 3. Latibeaudiere got skinned for the first goal and Darling caught off guard. Cullen’s goal was fortuitous, the clearance hit his shin/leg and rolled in. Cooper’s goal was a fantastic strike
Since he sent off Rico Henry against us in the first leg play-off semi-final in 2020 (and it was overturned on appeal), he’s been terrible to us - seems a ‘nice change’ today
