I dont think it is the same at all personally. Simms has done well, but not very well, in my opinion. I think his form is ok, not much more. ONien has done excellently in my opinion and yesterday was just another tremendous performance. It is the difference between a player playing outstandingly well being dropped for a returnee who has played 3 games for the club, and dropping a young loanee who has done ok for a player who we have seen make our team so much better for 18 months or more, and who seemingly is wanted by premier league clubs like Everton.
Superb player isnt he. Just a pure defender who reads the game so well and will dominate centre forwards. Reminds me a bit of Paul Butler in his tims here.
Brilliant. I love seeing defenders just defend and do the simple stuff. Head it, kick it. He is a great fit for our side
thanks for the kind words chaps, well on the mend here. we saw with gooch when someone is returned to the side he makes a difference...one bit of magic off the wing and he earned his place. i like batth, he defends with no nonsense and clears his lines which at times is what we need just to get a little more time to defend, onien has changed his display now i think, now rather than 'dive in' and risk a card he stands up and forces the lad to rethink...not sure how ballard will fit in but it is a good option to have.
think both are on the verge, stewart could have been included but they decided to give him more time...pretty sure ballard has been 'on the grass' so will be pretty much ready.
We have a training game with the Boro in midweek and Stewart will play in that. Ballard must be very close too. TM wants them to complete a full weeks training before players return.
The club and/or Mowbray are being very cautious with injured players, rather than the "chuck them in and hope for the best" approach we've seen in the past. Whilst its frustrating for we supporters, its a refreshing change and maybe indicative of the squad depth
