SUNDERLAND will turn to Africa in their hunt for new striker talent – but the Black Cats are not on the trail of Turkey striker Mevlut Erdinc. The Journal understands scouts will be dispatched to the African Cup of Nations to run the rule over potential targets later this month, with Sunderland talent spotter Mo Camara part of a delegation set to jet off to Equatorial Guinea and Gabon to watch the tournament. Camara and Sunderland’s other scouts will be charged with unearthing new talent as well as running the rule over the Black Cats established targets, who include midfielder Karim Ziani and Lille’s Senegal striker Moussa Sow. Whether Sunderland will pounce for a new player this month is another matter, with Martin O’Neill pledging both in public and privately that he won’t be rushed into conducting business. Operating within a tight budget, the club are more likely to broker loan deals than a major signing this month. And despite reports linking them with a loan switch for Paris Saint Germain’s out-of-favour Erdinc, they are not in negotiations with the French giants. Erdinc is being tracked by a number of Premier League clubs – but despite being available at a knock-down fee after he slipped down the pecking order at the Parc des Princes, a move to Wearside is not on the cards. His agent Pierre Frelot – who is looking for an English escape route for the forward – yesterday confirmed to The Journal: “We have had no contact with Sunderland.” Read More http://www.journallive.co.uk/safc/s...t-mevlut-erdinc-61634-30153631/#ixzz1jtZMGWLt Only seen Ziani play a couple of times and he would add some creativity into the midfield, as for Sow if we got him then it would certainly show we mean business
Very true, it's hot in Turkey! Joking, you're right. But all reports in France claim the deal is all but done. Strange one from Sow, obviously money and heat involved.
Ziani would certainly offer something in the midfield
I'll start by saying if we get Sow I will play an entire set of Bros and Kylie Minogue songs at my next event. HOWEVER, is it no possible, that due to his 2 good pals being at Newcastle, he might fancy moving to the North East, where he to come here? I think possibly. I don't, however, think we'll pull out the £20million or so, but he is a cracking player, i'd be over the moon.
