Last time out Sunderland beat Swindon and Crew drew with Blackpool.
Sunderland host Crewe Alexandra at the stadium of Light in the Skybet League One.
Sunderland remain unbeaten in League One after Saturday’s 2-0 win against Swindon, and move up to 5th place with a game in hand.
Having signed Dion Sanderson from Wolves (on loan) at the end of the transfer deadline the young defender could be a part of the squad for Tuesday. The Black Cats are also exploring the free agent market for another centre-back after suffering several injury setbacks in that position. They will be without defenders Arby Xhemajli, Morgan Feeney, Tom Flanagan and Jordan Willis.
Tom Flanagan will miss out as the Northern Ireland international is set to see a specialist to assess an ankle injury sustained while on international duty, as Phil Parkinson also sweats on the fitness of Denver Hume. Hume was back in light training on Friday, but Parkinson will look at bringing in a free agent as cover for him.
The Railwaymen sit in mid-table on 7 points, and have beaten Wigan and MK Dons so far this season. Former Black Cat, Mikael Mandron will be looking forward to a return to the North East having scored 5 in 7 games at his new club.
Manager David Artell will assess a couple of niggles sustained in Saturday's 1-1 draw with Blackpool before heading off for Wearside.
Crewe last visited the Stadium of Light more than 16 years ago in their Championship days and Artell said: "It's why we are in League One and it is going to be a great challenge for the club."
    Phil Parkinson:
“I thought that Chaz’s all-round performance today was excellent. He won headers, ran the channels, pressed, and got the goal. That’s what he is capable of. It was a great win for us.”
"Jordan has had an X-ray and there's no break, so that's good news, his foot is just badly bruised and it came up in a lump straightaway, so we were worried about it but it is not as bad as first feared. "It's getting better by the day, and he will be assessed tomorrow."
"He’s a good player (Sanderson) and he will add something to the team and to the squad."
“I was very pleased to get him before Jordan’s injury, but now even more so. Throughout the season there are going to be injuries and suspensions, the squad has to be strong enough to cope with them, and I feel that we are getting there.”
“We’re still looking at free agents.”
    David Artell:
“It was our worst performance of the season but our best result. We didn’t do enough with the ball and made poor decisions, especially in the first half. We made more of a fist of it in the second half and although we didn’t play as well as we have done previously, we stuck at it and got a point.”
“You also have to give Critch and Blackpool credit too. They made it difficult for us and had a lot of possession, but saying that I don’t think they had many chances either. They probably feel a bit more aggrieved than us that they didn’t get the three points, but I must give our lads some credit too because we haven’t been able to train and prepare like we are used to this week.”

    My two pence:
A solid performance at Swindon, another clean sheet and 3 more points, so I’m not complaining.
I’m never sure of what Parky is going to do so I’ve gone for the team that finished on Saturday as we won't have Flanagan or Willis available.

    I’m going for a 2-0 home win.

    Thanks RTB for OP

Well will the prolific Wyke get a start again and our goal keeper have a shot to save?

Presumably I can use my password to watch the game...

If we can keep a clean sheet, we can probably nick at least one goal...

    Home win!

always had a bit of a 'soft spot' for crewe during the Dario years, you knew you were going to get a team that tried to play football and it would be an entertaining game...not seen a thing of them recently to be honest but i very much doubt they will be near that kind of level.

think most of us are still wondering about wyke and the question is 'was his last game the kick start he needed or will this be a return to his usual'?...happy enough with that line up though RTB, cheers.

Should have enough to see off Crewe but beware of the returning Madron, didn't he get two for Gillingham on his last visit to the SOL.

Good result on Saturday. Looking really solid. Think he may have hit on a winning formula in midfield just hope he sticks to it. Forwards need to step up to the plate now 3-1.

Think this will be a tougher test than you'd think. Listening to the d3d4 pods every week they always say Crewe have some good, nippy players who play good football and cause teams problems.

He did and that added time goal cost us two points which meant we were outside the play offs.

Serious question. Why have you given them a goal? We have only conceded one goal this season in the league and that was a penalty. Every other league game we’ve kept a clean sheet. Nothing to really suggest that Crewe will score other than me jinxing it here saying they won’t!
