Pretty even game, hopefully the same pattern as the last few weeks and we step it up in the second half. A blow losing Maguire but a chance for OBrien to do something. A draw wouldn't be a bad result but still expecting us to win this one. They look quick up front but we have dealt with that pretty well. I don't want to jinx him but Flanagan has defended well and he also isn't trying any 40 yard passes and is just keeping it nice and simple which is good to see,
I still maintain that we could play almost exactly the same way but sacrifice a CB for two up top, we put a lot of crosses in but there's no bugger there.
Playing a slow steady build up, to the final third, is classy but only works if you suddenly quicken it and play fast passes on the edge of the box. We're building up slowly and are then unable the play the rapid one-twos, etc, that pull defenders around. We're not winning free kicks for the same reason, the defenders never need to dive in. And despite good balls into the box Wyke never looks like getting across the defender. We're simply relying on a moment from Gooch or someone.
To be honest for how we played I don't think Graham or Grigg would have done any different in the first 45, we've been quite slow in the build up and generally the final ball in has been poor. Mind you that was a great cross in from deep right before half time, as Andy Gray would say "it had put me in" written all over it.
He doesn't worry defenders half as much as he worries me .... ... I'm starting to worry that he scores and keeps his place
Give it 15 minutes if things dont improve, then, if we want to win it Diamond and Grigg on would do for me , but Parky would settle for a draw imo. and it would not be the end of the world.
Yep there was one cross by Scowan, i think that Wyke could have made more effort and got across the defender i reckon
