Sunderland host Wycombe Wanderers in the Skybet League One Last time out Sunderland beat Blackpool and Wycombe beat Stevenage in the Carabao Cup The Black Cat’s new signings Niall Huggins, Frederik Alves and Nathan Broadhead all made their first start for the club on Tuesday in the 3-2 victory at Blackpool. Corry Evans could be on track for a return after his hamstring problem. Luke O'Nien missed the cup game to allow extra time for his shoulder injury to settle down ahead of this weekend's league game against his old club Wycombe Wanderers. Lee Burge will also be in contention to start. Hat-trick hero Aiden O'Brien will be pushing to be in the starting eleven after an impressive display against the Seasiders. Wycombe Wanderers have signed striker Brandon Hanlan from Bristol Rovers on a three-year deal. The 24-year-old joined Rovers in September 2020, making 48 appearances for the club and scoring nine times. Hanlan has previously played for Charlton Athletic and Gillingham. Former Black Cat, Josh Scowen makes a swift return to the stadium of Light after signing for the Chairboys. Lee Johnson: “When you come in you don’t always have the perfect players to match the perfect style. At the end of the day, it’s all of the players that do the work. “We have a lot of talent and a lot of youth with some experience sprinkled in. “Burge will be fine to train tomorrow and Evans has been on the grass and looks good. Alves just had cramp. We’ll dust ourselves off and go again. “It is a good chance to build him (Evans) up in terms of minutes and fitness. “We’re always looking in all positions. Sunderland needs to have a heavy shirt and there needs to be competition. We’re looking to improve always in all areas. “We have to work to a budget depending on what goes on. We’re always trying to maximise when you can do.” “Tough game. Wycombe always put you on the back foot. They are masters of disruption. This is a real good test for us. I’m looking forward to see how we cope. “ Gareth Ainsworth: "He's (Hanlan) an all-rounder who can score all types of goals, with his head and both feet, and his hold-up play is a big asset as well, it's taken a lot of hard work to get this deal done, because there was a lot of interest in him from other clubs, but we're delighted that he's now a Wycombe Wanderers player." I have a feeling that he'll limit any changes depending on the injury situation. This is my first home game of the season and I can’t wait to get back in the SoL and cheer on the lads. I’m going for a 2-1 home win. 6-0 to the Lads and Bon Jovi continues to give football a bad name () As long as we don't get sucked into all that ****e we should beat them. Marvelous stuff as usual RTB
Great thread and great to see Sunderland supporters counting the days to games again ... ... I hope Ainsworth gets that ridiculous smirk knocked off his scruffy lopsided face. He's a blatant cheat and a disgrace to football. please log in to view this image
thanks for another great thread RTB, and another win from me, the guys are on a role and long may it continue
Great thread as usual RTB. Id play that line up but id start OBrien over Mcgeady or Gooch (preferably Gooch). I cant see how he can be dropped after the other night and it would be abit harsh on him if he was to be fair.
Please please please Johnson didnt just say "we'll dust ourselves off and go again". The ghost of Bruce......
Do not let this distract you from the fact that people in North Korea are legally only allowed to have one of 28 haircuts. Men and women can choose from 14 different styles.
Tough game but one we can certainly win. A good chance we’d be sat in the top 2 with 3 points here. Ha’way the lads
RTB A win please, looking forward to going. Will the hat-trick boy get a start.. may mean playing 4 4 2? Gooch or Mcgeady drop to the bench? Fitness of a couple of players a question also 09 and Evans for instance. Neil to start in midfield surely.. Is Burge fit? All be revealed..
Will never forget these ****s cheating their way into the play-offs at our expense. They’ve had a good start but I don’t see any quality there, at all. Shame that they are too strong to land in their rightful place in League 2. Think many of us revelled in them losing every week last season and I think the atmosphere will be charged because of that history. Let’s get at them. 3-1 the lads and **** this lot.
Great thread as usual RTB. Keep our heads and we will win, yet another challenge for our new look team, and I am hopeful for another good result.OaU.
