Swansea v Millwall Competition - Sky Bet Championship Venue - Swansea.com Stadium Date - 4 May 2024 Kick off - 12:30 Following their highly commendable 2-2 draw at Play-Off hopefuls Norwich City, next up for Luke Williams’ Swansea squad is the final game of the 23/24 Championship season, a home fixture against Millwall. Last Saturday, Norwich missed the chance to all-but secure their place in the Championship play-offs when they were held to a frustrating 2-2 draw by the Swans at Carrow Road. The Canaries went behind midway through the first half when Jamie Paterson fired home but were ahead at the break thanks to goals from Gabriel Sara - a real stunner - and top scorer Josh Sargent. But the impressive Swans equalised early in the second period through a Matt Grimes penalty and held on for a deserved point. Whilst the Swans were drawing in Norfolk, Millwall struck late to secure a narrow win over Plymouth at The Den, piling pressure on The Pilgrims at the bottom of the Championship. Jake Cooper struck seven minutes from time to secure a fourth successive win for Neil Harris' side. Plymouth were left to rue missed opportunities as they lost successive league games. They are just a point and a place above the bottom three with one game to play, and this loss has kept Huddersfield's hopes of survival mathematically alive. The Swans have played Millwall on 57 previous occasions, winning 24, losing 20 and drawing 13. In last season’s corresponding fixture, the teams drew 2-2, despite the Swans being 2-0 up in the 90th minute Remarkably, the Swans conceded 2 own goals in the 93rd and 95th minutes courtesy of Darling and Wood respectively: Turning to tomorrow, both sides come into the fixture in fine form, and I guess that the outcome will depend largely on whether or not the Managers pick their ‘best’ sides or decide to give players their final run out for their respective teams. I’m going for a 1-1 draw
Thanks Taff, I see you are being optimistic to the end Hoping we got out with a bang so it's 3-1 for me
Hmmmm.... I would love to see a continuation from where we left off against Norwich and the players should really put on a show to thank the fans... but... will anyone be arsed with nothing riding on it? Hopefully an end to end spectacle, 3 - 2.
Cheers Taff for the wonderful match day threads this past season, top job. Swans to finish off the season in style 3-0 Swans.
Swansea City defender Harry Darling will miss the season finale against Millwall after undergoing surgery on a foot injury. The centre-back has been in fine form as the Swans have enjoyed a strong conclusion to the 2023-24 campaign. But he underwent an operation earlier this week, and will aim to be back in time for the start of pre-season ahead of the 2024-25 season. Otherwise head coach Luke Williams expects to have the same group of players to choose from as for last weekend’s draw against Norwich City at Carrow Road. “Harry Darling has had an operation on his foot, he has been in some discomfort,” said Williams. “But he has been playing so well and wanted to keep playing, but we got to a stage where it got too much. “He had the surgery and the surgeon has confirmed we had made the correct call, and it went well. “He has been in today and now he can work over the summer to be ready for pre-season. "Otherwise the group is looking very good, and the levels have stayed the same, there has been no drop-off."
Many thanks Taff for the pre match write ups throughout the season. I'm already looking forward to your next seasons. 3-1 YJBs

FT 0 - 1. Apart from a brief spell in the second half we looked toothless yet again. Score that pen and it's a different result, but we didn't.
