    Competition - Sky Bet Championship
    Venue - Swansea.com Stadium
    Date - 13 April 2024
    Kick off - 3pm

Following their much needed midweek win over relegation threatened Stoke, next up for Luke Williams’ Swansea squad is a home match against already relegated Rotherham.

On Wednesday evening, the Swans eased any relegation concerns with a 3-0 cruise past Stoke City which leaves the Potters still scrapping for Championship survival.

Liam Cullen's crisp finish gave the Swans a first-half lead before Niall Ennis thought he had claimed a bizarre leveller, only for his effort to be ruled out for a foul on goalkeeper Carl Rushworth.

Matt Grimes drilled in from the spot to give the Swans breathing space early in the second half before Josh Key's fine counter-attack goal sealed what was ultimately a comprehensive victory.

The Swans’ first win in four games may well prove to be the result which guarantees they will still be in the second tier next season.

Luke Williams' side are now seven points clear of 22nd-place Sheffield Wednesday with just four league games remaining in this campaign.

But while Swansea look close to safety, Stoke have much work to do to secure their Championship status after their three-game unbeaten run came to an abrupt end.

Steven Schumacher's side are just three points above the drop zone with a potentially pivotal game against the Owls to come at Hillsborough on Saturday.

Whilst the Swans were beating Stoke, West Bromwich Albion bolstered their place in the Championship play-off slots as they comfortably saw off already-relegated Rotherham United.

First-half goals from Brandon Thomas-Asante and a highly controversial John Swift penalty helped cement the Baggies' half-season-long stranglehold on fifth place.

Rotherham put in a spirited second-half display and were not breached again.

The Millers have 14 players out of contract this summer and are obviously in for a summer shake-up under Leam Richardson - but there were at least some signs of hope for next season.

The Swans have played Rotherham on 83 previous occasions, winning 31, drawing 27 and losing 25.

In last season’s corresponding fixture, the teams played out a 1-1 draw:

Turning to tomorrow, I think that the Swans will triumph by 2-1, (finally) numerically securing their place in The Championship for next season. <cheers>

The result of this game totally depends on the player's attitudes... we saw against Stoke (and Cardiff) that when hyped by the manager that they can perform and get a result.

Saying that, a home win for me 2 - 0. Rotherham must be totally disheartened as well.

They were hard done by against WBA - a truly awful decision by the ref to award the penalty for the second goal.

Not only did it appear that the ball hit the player’s face, but even if it had hit his hand (which it didn’t) he was standing on the D!

The ref should be stood down for the rest of the season - and where was the bloody Lino

Swansea City head coach Luke Williams has named an unchanged starting line-up and bench for this afternoon’s Championship fixture against Rotherham United at the Swansea.com Stadium.

The Swans boss keeps faith with the same 11 that started the 3-0 victory over Stoke City in midweek, and the same nine-man bench.

Carl Rushworth continues in goal, with Josh Key, Ben Cabango, Harry Darling and Josh Tymon making up the Swansea defence.

Captain Matt Grimes is paired with Jay Fulton in midfield, with a trio of Ronald, Ollie Cooper and Jamie Paterson operating ahead of them.

Liam Cullen leads the line as he starts up front for the Swans.

Swansea City: Carl Rushworth, Josh Key, Jay Fulton, Ben Cabango, Harry Darling, Matt Grimes (captain), Jamie Paterson, Josh Tymon, Liam Cullen, Ollie Cooper, Ronald.

Substitutes: Andy Fisher, Jerry Yates, Jamal Lowe, Charlie Patino, Mykola Kuharevich, Liam Walsh, Bashir Humphreys, Aimar Govea, Azeem Abdulai.

Rotherham United: Viktor Johansson, Lee Peltier, Hakeem Odoffin, Sam Clucas, Andy Rinomhota, Cafu, Sebastian Revan, Cohen Bramall, Cameron Humphreys, Sam Nombe.

Substitutes: Dillon Phillips, Arvin Appiah, Shane Ferguson, Tom Eaves, Charlie Wyke, Ben Hatton, Femi Seriki.

Wins for Stoke, Coventry, Hull and Bristol City would be a near perfect day - defeats for Brum, Hudd and Wed coupled with a Swans win would mathematically guarantee Championship football next season <cheers>
