Swansea City v Sheffield Wednesday Competition - Sky Bet Championship Venue - Liberty Stadium Date - 5 July 2020 Kick off - 12:00 Following their hard fought, but ultimately disappointing 1-1 draw away at The New Den against Millwall, next up for Steve Cooper’s Swansea squad is a home match against Garry Monk’s Sheffield Wednesday. Last Tuesday, Millwall and Swansea’s play-off aspirations took a knock in a 1-1 draw that did neither side much good. The Lions looked set for a first win since the season resumed thanks to Mason Bennett's first-half goal. But Rhian Brewster's free-kick, which went in via goalkeeper Bartosz Białkowski, earned the Swans a point. Millwall missed two excellent late chances to win, with Murray Wallace heading just wide and then against the post in the final minutes. This contest felt pivotal for two teams with promotion aspirations, especially as they were both beaten last time out, and the draw probably leaves both sides with too much work to do to make the top six. The following evening, West Bromwich Albion moved a point behind Championship leaders Leeds United after a comfortable victory at Sheffield Wednesday. Charlie Austin's penalty eight minutes before the break set the Baggies on the way to their first win in five games, which lifted Slaven Bilic's side five points clear of third-placed Brentford. Matheus Pereira glanced in Kieran Gibbs' cross to double the visitors' lead just before the hour mark. Owls winger Kadeem Harris hit the post with a curling shot from 25 yards out soon afterwards, but Pereira smashed in a third from a narrow angle late on as Wednesday suffered a first loss in three games. This defeat followed reports that some Wednesday players had not been paid in full in June. Wednesday are also awaiting the outcome of an English Football League hearing into a misconduct charge relating to the sale of their stadium to owner Dejphon Chansiri. The spectre of a points deduction hangs over them. Turning to Sunday, I’m expecting another hard fought game. The Swans must win to stand any real chance of making the play-offs, whilst Monk will most certainly have his players ‘wound up’ against his former Club, and they may need the win to help counteract ending up in the relegation zone courtesy of any points looming deduction. I’m going for a 1-1 draw
Gary Monk has never lost as a manager against us.....could this run continue? Could clueless still be clueless on Sunday? Or maybe he might have some positive thoughts and try to put a team out that wants to play strongly and at pace with some entertaining football...I would like a win of any description please. By the way take a look at the managers wilkipedia and his preferred playing style......
I'm surprised you even think he can ,will or is capable of inspiring the players , he certainly doesn't inspire any confidence in me to think he knows how to do anymore than being one dimensional
I am trying to be positive so I hope we win and keep us all looking forward....well the players including Matty are spinning the positive ...
O Bubbles O Bubbles o what can you do? With your hands in your pocket And f... all to do. ................ HOW MUCH HAVE YOU GOT on. A no score.? ...... where is your mate?
How can Luton put together the run of results they've had since the restart and then be losing 5 nil at home to Reading today ?
But Stereo our esteemed manager Clueless has already referred to twists and turns to come in this mini league though I would now be shocked if any twists we do will turn us in to the play offs....
