Okay so that was a shambles last night. First half was unacceptable. Onto Swansea, who sit 6th. Only lost 2, and conceded 1 in 5. Chink of light for me = two 0-0 draws. Perhaps we can get one of them!? They've only conceded 6 in 11............ I saw Swansea 0 Forest 0, well 35 minutes or so of it online and they looked decent. Not a bad tempo, used the ball well and defended well vs a good Forest side. I was thinking perhaps 0-0 / 1-1 pre last night - however can only see a Swansea win I'm afraid. No idea where a goal from our boys could come from???! Unless Jackson was injured first half, still confused no ends with that substitution!!! 2-0 Swansea, which would take us to 12 without a win in the league, and to me, goodbye Mr Hurst going into the international break.
Shock win for the Tractor Boys! 2-1 win with us scoring late, on the counter, completely against the run of play, having been battered for most of the game. Classic Smash & Grab Goals from Nolan and Sears
It will click one day, when everyone least expects it. Swansea are a good footballing team, and easy on the eye, but I think th fact that they seem to be quite a lightweight team could benefit us if we upped our physical game. We need to put a few crunching tackles early on and stop them from dictating the game. If we can do that, and we put the likes of Dozzell and Sears from the start, there's no reason why we can't get a result. I have a feeling we could win this 1 nil with a late goal..
Looking at Swansea's stats, i didn't realise how poor they are attacking wise - only scored 10 goals, and only scored in 5 league games. Could be a time for an MM style performance where we shut the out for 80 minutes and hope to nick one at the end. I'll stick with my 1 nil win, with captain fantastic grabbing a late late goal
I prefer to look at how we can beat them, rather than go into a fear mindset and lose before we even kick a ball
I shall join the optimists and we snatch a late winner. I still want to see likes of Chambo, Skuse, Ward replaced, from the ko. 2-1 first away win.....hang on, first win. Incredible. Its gotta happen some time, for all our sakes and Hurst's skin.
Love it but I don't see how from any angle to be frank. Players like Fer / ( we know all about Celina and CCV ) / Montero vs our bag of absolute guff. Lost 2 all season. Conceded 1 in 5 vs a side in us that would struggle to score in a brothel. Our only clean sheet at H to 10 man Bolton. Oh, and our clueless ' manager ' to boot.
Let's hope the players that cross the white line on Saturday don't share you're pessimism. A big chunk of any athlete is to have a positive mindset - fear no one. It's 11 v 11 on the day. Why do we see so many upsets in football? Why do non league teams beat league teams in the FA cup? because they believed in themselves, and the "better" team took the lesser teams for granted.
I think there's a difference between predicting the result and being hopeful. I think we can all see results and performances have been below bar this season, and we deserve to be in the bottom three at this stage of the season. I don't expect a win against a very good Swansea side, but that doesn't mean I don't think it's achievable or that I don't want us to get a win. Westy is one of the more pessimistic posters on this forum, and there are a fair few at the moment which is entirely understandable and there were a lot last season too (which was also entirely understandable), but I don't believe that posters who are negative want us to win. They know the negatives outweigh the positives. If you had to put a lot of money on a result tomorrow, most of us would rightly play it safe and bet on a Swansea win, based on what we've seen of the two teams this season.
