**** me. How utterly dreadful were we? It actually makes me appreciate where we have come in the last 14 months.
This was the last time we scored at home with fans. Mate who goes with me was ill for this game and stayed at home. As a result of missing it he's seen City score one goal since 2019, despite attending all other home games in that time. And that one goal was the Tafazoli farce against Brentford.
2003 City 1-0 Swansea. Wonderful headed goal by Stu Elliott. Put us top of L3. Lee Trundle, a very good larker, played for them that night. Maybe the last evening game I saw live. Come on City, do us proud.
7-4 classic at BP The sight of the rust falling from the West stand roof still makes me chuckle. Think it was the same day Di died.
Saw the 1 all draw in 2013, evening kick off - first time THE big flag made an appearance, signed by most of those in attendance & the Swansea stewards who were as sound as; saw a rare Danny Graham goal (scored at their end) which he didn't ****ing celebrate - the twat him. Got home 4.45 in the morning - like a bastard night shift. Happier times when I loved the game, would take the same result tomorrow.
Strange how different peoples views are. Swansea Is one of my favourite away trips - pub crawl to and from the train station and always found the locals to be friendly - not go8ng tomorrow as don’t feel it will be the same doing our usual pub crawl with covid
Unlike last season going into these game I have no idea what the outcome will be. Apart from Derby, our performances have not been all that bad, so let's hope we can play with an extra 10% of improvement over those games and start to get some good results. Likely to be the same side as against Bournemouth?
Best memory of Swansea was bank holiday weekend 03/04 … they equalised late on , then Burgess scored an even later winner .. 3-2 ….. locals weren’t so friendly that day, load went out early to wait at top of street with missiles to throw at us. Good day though
During World War 2 in Swansea, an Australian took the mickey out of an American for not drinking alcohol, and it ended up in a fight. The American became a boxer after the war and became the world heavyweight champion known to all as Rocky Marciano. The Gower Peninsula was designated the first Area of Outstanding Beauty in 1956. The name Swansea is nothing to do with swans. It derives from Sweines ey (or Island) and is thought to be named after a Viking invader. From the late 18th century until well into the Victorian era, Swansea was nicknamed 'Copperopolis' due to the huge volume of the material manufactured in the city. In 1823 the first ever human fossil was discovered near Swansea in the Gower Peninsula. The Red Lady of Paviland (who is actually a man) dates back over 33,000 years Vetch Field is was formerly a patch of land owned by Swansea Gaslight Company used for growing vegetables, hence the name. In 1923 they became the first Welsh side to head overseas on tour and in 1961, they became the first Welsh club to play in Europe in the Cup Winners Cup. Ossie Ardiles played his first game in the English leagues against Swansea, and was substituted after a typical Tommy Smith tackle nearly made it his last. In 1991, Swansea played Monaco in the European Cup Winners Cup, which resulted in Monaco's manager Arsene Wenger making his first interview in English.
