Republic of Ireland manager Giovanni Trapattoni has provisionally included Robbie Brady in the team to play Sweden in the Republic of Ireland’s World Cup Qualifier in Sweden tomorrow. As expected, Paul Green will line out in the centre of midfield alongside Glenn Whelan, as James McCarthy must content himself with a place on the bench. Relative newcomer Brady is also included, as long as Trap feels the player is "psychologically ready". A final decision will be made tonight, with Andy Keogh due to start in his place if Brady is not deemed ready to play. Robbie Keane will pick up his 123rd cap with Shane Long partnering him in attack. Republic of Ireland team v Sweden: Forde, Wilson, Clark, O'Shea, Coleman, Green, Whelan, Brady (TBC), McClean, Keane, Long.
Paul Green must have some serious dirt on Trapp, how and why he gets a game is mystery. I can't see Trapp lasting much longer especially if we lose tonight.
And now no Whelan!. That means McCarthy will probably play. I still don't like Green in the team though, would much prefer to see Hoolahan anywhere in midfield.
Anyone got a good (English language) link to the game? We don't get RTE up here and my Arabic is a bit rusty.....
Great save from Forde. They made a lot of he first one....but that was hollywood save. That was a goodun.
I thought so, a QPR great. His dad was called Sealey, his mum remarried and changed the family name to Mancini, his stepdad. I've never discovered which county in Ireland he was born in (his dad).
Fair play! I remember him playing for Arsenal years ago (I was only a nipper) but I never knew about his da. Was it Les Sealey by any chance?
I think so. There's some great footage (I can't do links) of him hosting ITV's 'The Big Match' in the seventies with other players and he was great craic. Self-deprecating humour at its best. He still does after-dinner engagements in London. A real down to earth soul.
