There's nothing better than watching your grandkids doing sport, no matter what the weather, it's giving them that encouragement and watching them grow.
Our daughters were into horses, heart in the mouth job when they're jumping fences and bloody expensive.
As a dad working shifts I missed so much with my own kids and am living that part of my life through my grandkids and it's brilliant.

Totally agree with you on that. I get as much enjoyment watching the grandson play football as I do watching Sunderland at times if not more!

Yes mate. Great stuff. I can't believe after 7 years of my sin playing basketball and now my 11 year old daughter for the past 2 years, how much I am into it. I even watch the NBA on BT Sports.

Hope your lads continue to enjoy it as much as mine. Ours play for Tameside Vikings. Got teams in every age group.

My daughters is the only girls team so far and 12 months ago they were getting hammered as were playing against girls teams 2 years older. Last Saturday they won 79-2. An amazing turn around. Us parents were gobsmacked.

Great stuff for you and your lads mate.

I’m sat here waiting for my girls to come out of Taekwando…they really enjoy but you know what their highlight is? Me taking them to the charity shop up the road after every session so they can get a cheap rescue teddy each.

    Bloody kids eh? :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Yeah I fully understand, I get the girls every other weekend too and it’s quiet without them. Makes the next weekend something to look forward too though.

Well the Grandson finished the season with an under 11s final which ended 3-3.
The underdogs won on penalties and the son of the losing team coach who was mouthing off to the Ref the whole game, missed the deciding penalty which felt a bit like karma to me. Red hot over here today so pleased it was a 9.30 ko.

I really like this lad. I often wonder why I follow football. So much of the business of the thing, the diminishing character of players and managers, and the way the fans now interact with it in the days of social media is so off-putting to me.

Then you get an individual like this. Proud he plays for us, personally.

something that will not mean a thing to some but others will know the value...had a day away yesterday and the grandaughter (when she was told we would not be here) said "awww, i really wanted to say hallo to grandad".

those that know etc and for others yet to experience such simple but amazing acts i sincerely hope you do.

Im so proud but also have the job of keeping his twin brothers head up who is also a brilliant player but never won anything.

Hard situation to be in congratulating one son and trying to build another ones confidence up at the same time.
I suppose this will be a life lesson, but hard as a dad who worships his boys

Yeah that's a tough one mate. Especially when their playing the same sport. At least mine are boy and girl and 4 years apart. She thinks she's better, he knows he is. <laugh>
