It seems we're all onboard a spaceship now. Is there nothing Commander Nige and his team can't do? All aboard a rocket to the Prem. http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2758520,00.html My worry is, will Nige ever run out of superlatives?
TBF We have rocketed up the league since Nige came along. Now I expect nothing other than a top 4 place next season: "We are Southampton, we're CHAMPIONS league" - also add a cup double to that.
It's all wonderful, and he makes me smile. On a serious point, I am a huge admirer of his personnel skills. I imagine everyone who works at SFC walks tall with this man in charge. I know I do as a mere fan!
Nigel's Chairman at Scunthorpe said he treats everyone with respect and he believes in letting everyone have a say. When asked which manager Nigel could be likened to, he said, 'No one. He's unique.'
I knew someone that worked there under Pardew and Adkins. He said that if you weren't first team, Pardew wouldn't even notice you if he walked passed you in the corridor; with Nigel he knows and talks to everyone. He makes you feel important.
Actually, Pompey are more like one of those really big firework rockets. You know the ones. They cost a fortune, they rise majestically and then just as they reached never before dreamed of heights they explode. Everybody watching says "wow!" and then the debris drifts downwards and everyone mutters about the amount of money which has gone up in smoke.
Saints have been assimilated by Nigel. Resistance is futile. We will work as one mind. Seriously though, I think Nigel is great, best Saints manager in heaven-knows-how-long and, while I generally despise management-speak, Nigel is so bubbly you can't help liking his quotes.
