Sterling treating Liverpool as if they aren't a massive club that everyone would walk over glass to sign for. Karma is great. <diva> Don't back down now, lad.

I don't see Hernandez happening, he doesn't fit any role in our current system, unless he's going to play off the wing (like Long), which may well work but I don't think it's the best use of him. We've already seen that we seem to be moving for a certain type of forward a big power forward who can link play. He is the opposite of that.

Didn't Mane openly say that he was using us as a stepping stone when he first signed?

In slightly more elaborate words, yes. Not that this is a bad thing, we need to have ambitious players here and it also means we can make money on them. There are always more players, they have always come and gone.

I would rather they alude to using us as a stepping stone then pretend that it's their dream to play for us, only to move on a season later. That said I'll still be disappointed if he were to leave this summer.

I wouldn't really mind. If he left this summer it would be because we got a really silly offer. He's very good, yes, but he's still erratic.

True. I'd be disappointed not devastated. I'd like to see him develop further with us!

And of course, commentators are out in force, including the PFA's Gordon Taylor, who decries the situation as 'untidy' - all finding the whole thing thoroughly beastly that a player should so publicly in doubt about signing a contract or not.

Surely he'll be seriously swayed by the prospect of playing in the legendary Portuguese league, even for a non-CL, non-Europa club like Sporting Lisbon? Surprised he hasn't left the tinpot Premiership already. :emoticon-0125-mmm:

Being black, though, he'll struggle to find a second club, obviously.

Wasn't it his dad who said he won't be here as there are CL teams after him?

I just wish everyone would stop suggesting that wanting to leave is the same as getting a transfer. I'm sure there are occasions (as we know) where if you kick up enough of a stink, Saints would rather you left if the money is right. But most players seem to serve at least a couple of years of their contracts. There are probably a lot of players who hope for a move, but when told no, just carry on as usual (without anyone being any the wiser).

Haven't heard that. Only people I have heard are basically going are Morgan and Clyne. Plus Jay wanted to prove himself to get a move to Spurs. The Wanyama stuff is just made up crap (atm).
