Aaaaahhhh the Bumper .................... at last. Some will have you believe it has no place at the festival but that is utter nonsense. Some of the most memorable scenes of recent years have come from the bumper .............. let's take a moment and remember Dunguib:

The race is run over 2 miles and 110 yards and there are obviously no obstacles to be jumped. I've had 2 of the last 4 winners in Champagne Fever and Moon Racer but I must admit to being pretty clueless at this stage of affairs. Even Willie Mullins doesn't seem to have a standout candidate, with Augusta Kate's participation still open to wild speculation. The Twister has a good 'un in Ballyandy but I've a feeling we might have another "Cue Card year" here where an unknown 40-1 shot hacks up:

    Dunguib, legend.

Still can't believe he never wins the Supreme <laugh>

And that was before I was into racing!

09 was about the time I joined BBC606 and took an interest in UK racing. I thought Dunguib was the best thing since sliced bread. Amazing win.

Good old Dunguib, some performance and the commentary really added to the spectacle.

Augusta Kate CONFIRMED for this now by Graham Wylie on the Final Furlong podcast. Interesting, could she follow in the footsteps of the other Irish mare Total Enjoyment who fairly hacked up in this a dozen years ago?

Good old dunguib fortunes won and lost. I remember loads of Irish went home after the first race after dunguib said defeat in the first race, my mate seamus was one of them. We all said he was mad to do all his dough in the first but he wouldn't listen, it was a sure thing.

Just had a look at the bumper and two that jump out are jam session who finished second in a listed event at HQ and west end story who's had a couple of wins in class 6 but I spoke to dickie at Huntingdon and he said he liked him. He hosed up that day. It's owned by mick fits but don't hold it against the horse.
