Ryder Cup starts tomorrow with the Fourballs. Very early start with the first pairings teeing off at 7:10 UK time. Molinari and Fleetwood v Woods and Reed looks particularly tasty. I do fancy the US to win with their line up - I certainly think it's their best opportunity to win on European soil for a long time.
This is genuinely the only competition I have thrown a sickie for, to make sure I didn’t miss a single shot. Such an exciting format, although in recent years it has looked as though the Americans have started to get over their “playing for themselves” attitude and have learned to “play for each other”. The foursomes and four balls are so crucial for Europe, so hopefully we will get off to a good start. I think the most stand out, sportsmanship moment for me was Mickleson applauding Rose, after he had sunk a big putt to square up a crucial singles game, with, iirc, just one or two holes to play. I can’t, now, remember if Rose took the final hole to win, or what year. Age!
I'm off work with a chest infection so I'll be watching from the first tee off. Looking at them pairings I reckon Europe will be 2 1/2 1 1/2 up after them.
I’m shocking at golf, but I’ve been to that golf type range thing on the m27 and twatted a few balls about , not bad that. Don’t know if it’s still there.
A minor point....I dip in and out of the Ryder Cup and wish the players would wear something that distinguishes one team from another...colour, hat, shirt.... anything. We don't all follow the game so closely that we know every player and can distinguish one dark-dressed, be-capped person from another by stance alone. That's ok in an individual sport, but not in a team game.
I’m with you this year, as they both have white trousers today. I’m sure it’ll differentiate on other days.
Well, the afternoon session is going well. Garcia and Noren 6up through 8 holes. If they were the Saints I would worry about losing that on the back half. Stenson and Rose 5 up through 11. Molinari and Fleetwood 3up through 6. McIlroy and Poulter 2up through 10.
Europe 4-3 up with the last game coming home, with a healthy 4 hole lead, with 5 to play. Wish I was watching it.
Is it just me or does that Paris course look a bit pikey compared to courses in the states and over here in the UK.
