I can see why they have paved runoff. But I can't see why they need to have it from edge of track to wall 100m away. Just put grass, 2m of grass along the track.
You look at all the junior formula results and you will see disallowed lap times in quali and time penalties in the race. This is a ‘wont’ not a ‘cant’ by F1 - totally self inflicted and I do hold Charlie responsible.
I like that idea.Nice and simple. But what about when someone tries to go up the inside and pushes the other car wide and over the line
Electrify the white lines. Rails under the cars linked to thr drivers seats. A nice sharp shock if they cross.
Vettel all 4 wheels over white line first corner first lap, without that he would not have passed Lewis! We need consistency.
They don't enforce anything at the start, you can weave, crowd, pretty much do whatever for the first 3 or 4 corners.
The picture is (deliberately) misleading. Sainz did not pass Ocon. Also for better or for worse they've always been more relaxed with the rules on the first corner. Consistent in the inconsistency if you like. Everyone knows that, so it isn't unfair. A move like Verstappen made never gets allowed. This shock and outrage just makes both Jos and Max look like spoiled pricks.
Jos is acting like a bit of tool. Doesn't look great. I can understand Max feeling robbed to an extent, but come Jos, calm it down a bit man.
As for the penalty... I mean, you can't really argue against it but they do have to sort this out and apply a rule consistently. I find it a shame though given the excellent drive by Max and the brilliant finish he provided.
