What we need is for JWP to become an FA Cup winner and Euro winner in the same year, while playing for Saints, thus standing as an example to future talent, of what can be achieved by staying with us. Not gonna happen, is it?
Ings would be a success at City in my opinion. Even their very best players (KDB) spend time on the bench. His game and runs would be mouth watering with players like KDB picking him out. nobody knows what’s happening really and for me, whatever will be, will be. Yes, we’re going to Wembley
No - because as soon as we have “proper opposition” Southgate will go back to his tried and trusted (boring) midfield .......
Hoddle says lots of things Mostly they sound like this to me ... "Hurdy gurdy burdy nurdy furdy blurdy murdy turdy ..." I don't think Prowsey is what the CL few look for in a CM and I hope that's true I know he loves playing for us and I hope that continues Pierre went to Spurs for CL football and that isn't going so well now is it The Special One is very entertaining when things don't go well for him Mrs S loves him that much more when he's moody
and maybe that's the key question re: Danny Does he think he could be a first choice striker in a CL team? And its quite possible that injuries become more of a thing when he's not playing regularly Once he get's match fit and has a run of games he seems to become more resilient That's not quite happening at the moment Let's hope he decides to stick with first choice in his improving local PL team
See my earlier post. At a club like City, what is first choice? So much rotation that everyone seems ok with it. I disagree with the continually playing thing with Danny. To be rested and not have to play every game, would suit him, I think. If it meant playing one game a fortnight, then fair enough. It isn’t. It’s two games a week at City, so rotation works.
I agree once a week is enough, but the rotation at City isn't 100% He rotates some positions far more than others SRL moved to be a back up for a team that rotated and they hardly played him and never played him to his strengths Not the same, but it supports my argument, so I'm going for it I can't see City even being interested anyway, more likely one of the others where you're either in or you're not
And find an agent to talk some sense into him! But unless he's able to put this nonsense behind him, sell and move on.
Can't see Ings at City myself, would help with the home grown quota I suppose, but think they will targeting some bigger name strikers. If Kane goes this summer then Spurs seems likely. As I've said multiple times I think Everton are a good bet, they also would be a great team for us to sell to as they seem happy to pay big money for older players.
Not the most scientific of surveys, but on my local footie WhatsApp Liverpool fans were thanking Saints for getting Ings up and ready for his return to Anfield. If you were at Anfield just before the lockdown, you might have seen Henderson's very warm tribute to Ings, and heard the Kop sing his name. Oddly enough though, I've noticed the Ings love-in has gone a little quiet since the injury/form drop. However, I still see Liverpool as the most likely of the top clubs to take him, and Ings would clearly love to return. Can't see the attraction of Everton other than money. For Liverpool he'd be an SRL signing
I don't think Ings owes us anything. He has been good value while here and I would like him to stay but it is up to him. I think the exodus after Poch has scarred me forever...
Or perhaps their sense of humour. I can imagine us saying something like that in similar circumstances.
I agree....Ings has served us well....shame about his injuries. He is perfectly entitled to get a good move for himself at this stage of his career. His injuries and drop off in form will surely put off the very top clubs though. I obviously regret it when we lose good players....but no longer take it personally. All I ask is that players do their best here and behave respectfully when they leave.
Nobody owes anybody anything, in the brave new atomised and disconnected world we currently inhabit. But surely there’s another world somewhere where things like loyalty, common purpose, gratitude and belonging still exist? No? Okay, I’ll get my coat...
I'm not gonna lie, i'll be disillusioned if Danny decides to move on. I don't think that he has fully repaid the club's faith in him yet after offering him a way back to rebuild his career after the terrible spell of injuries he suffered at Liverpool. People often refer to Adam in these matters but he served the club tremendously well for several season as did Rickie, Danny has given us one great season here so far.
If he goes he goes. Two goals at the Fratton end means he'll always be the king of the scummers to me. Already over it.
I’m much the same. At least, until he rediscovers last season’s form and bangs in 15 goals in league and cup matches between now and May.
