Let's put all our Crimbo chat here. Anyone got any special plans? What are you hoping for (other than a huge transfer budget for LB)? Are you having turkey or something more exotic? Merry Christmas!
Mrs FHB and I had our turkey dinner last friday at the 5 Bells. The kids don't eat meat so we still have to work out plan B. Christmas day will be quiet, just the 4 of us, but we'll be busy with family and friends the rest of the time, especially with Mrs FHB having a significant birthday on January 1st.
we're hosting again, as the missus' nan has gone to florida and avoided her turn. we'll have 20 or so over - everyone seems to flock to our kids as they're the first grand kids. hopefully will be fun - as its my house i always have an excuse to get away from the in-laws who are not the best conversationalists.
Co-Starring @DickPlumb. Still waiting for an answer why he is not on here any more. I cannot post insightful comments about our team all by myself
AirNorwegian is my friend, they enabled me to get a return ticket for peanuts, speeding up my return for the West Brom game.
How's the Crimbo shopping going, guys? I've only got a couple of bits left to get, and then it's time to relax with my Paynes Chocolate Brazils. Yum!
I thought of you earlier. Out canvassing in a beautifully sunny & crisp South West London, I was struck by the birdsong. Looking up into the trees, I saw at least a dozen sparrows and ( I swear this is true) what looked like blue tits. Their song was lovely. I took the blue as a lucky omen.
That's lovely, Royston. There is nowt better than hearing birdsong on a crisp, sunny morning. And they probably were blue tits, for they rarely move far from their hatch point, let alone fly south for the winter.
Although it has to be said the Red Red Robin is in fine voice at this time of year. Even sometimes in the evening near a streetlight. Haven't seen any Yellowhammers or Greenfinches though.
Is my memory playing tricks on me , or do we see far fewer sparrows these days ? I know @Beware of the Virus hasn't seen a pair of tits for a long time, but that’s a different matter.
The number of urban sparrows has shrunk alarmingly over recent years. However if you stand at Penge East station there is a very noisy flock in a tree next to PLatform 1, always chattering.
